We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a mom of three small children, I was drowning in housework. I never felt caught up or like our home was clean. In an effort to get on top of everything, I asked my housekeeper to help me deep clean the whole place. Sadly, she was in the process of changing careers and the one person in my corner was about to step away.

In the process of searching for a new housekeeper, I got so frustrated that I decided to start a little cleaning side-gig on my own. If I couldn’t find someone to clean my own house, maybe the market just needed more housekeepers. Within a month, I was fully booked and cleaning houses for friends on the weekends. As exciting as this was, I quickly got bored doing the same spaces over and over again. I also left every single house wishing I could stay and do more. I was still yearning for that complete, deep clean feeling.

After about 6 months, I took a much needed trip to NYC to visit my sister. With her encouragement, I made the bold decision to hire a team and specialize in offering ONLY deep cleans. I transformed from a regular cleaner, to a crazy deep cleaner. Alongside my team, we dove in and kept our heads down and just kept scrubbing. A few years later, we have cleaned hundreds of homes and offer the deepest clean in Nashville.

What should our readers know about your business?
Well, I told the story of how my business started in a previous question. So, I’ll elaborate here on the journey.

Over the past few years, we have spent thousands of hours deep cleaning homes. Building out an efficient work process has been a lot of labor. I cleaned every single house we booked for the first 2.5 years and only took a step back in December. I had to get my hands dirty (quite literally) and learn as much as I could about making our wheels turn.

Back in the winter, I got the opportunity to clean less and I took it. I think for most entrepreneurs it’s hard to hand over the reigns. But, now that I’m behind a computer instead of a toilet, I know that this was the right step. I care so deeply about cleaning and I truly love to do it, so pulling back from the physical labor was harder than I ever thought it would be.

Biggest lesson I’ve learned is to listed to my gut. A hire, a client or an opportunity is only a good one if it feels right. Trusting my gut and my own expertise is so valuable.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ok I love to do fun things. My dream date night out in the city would include a pre-dinner THC mocktail at Buds and Brews. Then, a delicious pasta dinner (yes they offer gluten free) at Pelato next door. If we are headed downtown for an event, Sixty Vines is so yummy and affordable. Sign me up for a Preds game or a concert at Bridgestone any day of the week.

Other favorite spots in the city for kids – Downtown Library, Adventure Science Center, Little Art House.

I’m a gym rat and yoga teacher on the side. Whenever I’m not at work or with my kids you’ll find me at Lifetime in Franklin. We always bring our friends when they come into town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes! My branding consultant Emmy Singer. She taught me how to streamline my thoughts and musings about cleaning into a digestible package. Emmy and I worked diligently together to build out a functional website and marketing materials.
