Meet Paul Perry | Tattooer/business Owner & Realtor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paul, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been a go getter and always admired others who were doing well so I set goals for myself to accomplish. Starting the business just took a lot of lost hours with loved ones , long days and nights , so I had to achieve that goal I set for myself.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always been an artist from a young age I see things differently than other’s I guess my art has ranged from pen and paper to oil on canvas to brick and spray paint. Then it led me to tattooing. I use to do all the large tattoos that took hours to finish now I have stepped down a bit to run a successful business so now I try and focus on smaller projects. I’m into fine line tattoos that last, there are others doing fantastic fine line tattoos but I know personally mine last I have seen my work that is in its 20’s and the newer generation cannot say that.
It definitely was not an easy process to get where I’m at today a lot of ups and downs a lot of missed events. Sleepless nights and tiring days and not giving up.Once I had my wife who has the same desires I do I knew I had to move forward with even bigger things with her beside me to nudge me or tell me to slow my role really was my special machine.
I’ve learned to pick your battles, learn to let go not everyone can see your vision and that’s ok. Not everyone is on your side and it’s best to stay focused and not focused on the negative even when opponents are trying their best to come for you. There are real snakes out there and they will try and soak all of your positive energy from you to block your goals. Just Keep moving and taking care of business.
Now that I have the years of experience in being a tattooer and business owner I have started a new goal and passion in realestate not only being a realestate investor I’m now along with my wife a realtor. The love we have for realty is a high energy it gives us that extra charge when you help someone in a life decision especially when they thought they could never be where they are now. It’s very inspiring and fulfilling helping someone make their dreams a reality. .
I also work with plastic surgeons and dermatologist with breast cancer patients for 3D areola tattooing this has also been a very fulfilling part of my career.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I definitely would have to take friends to local businesses I’m a big local supporter so we would definitely have to check out my brothers butcher shop Primos and if I can talk some of my other friends into grilling out I would pick up some of the finest meat on this side of the Mississippi. Go and have some drinks at Windy City or ACs. You will have to go get some mani and pedis from my friends Tan and Lisa from Nails and Gossip rather that’s your thing or not trust me it will change your life!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe my work ethics to two Italian men that owned a grocery/butcher shop in the heart of South Memphis Henry Pretti and Mike Palazola where I started working at the age of 12. Not only were they inspiring but they had others that they were inspired by that would come and hangout in the back room that ranged from farmers to priest to politicians, it would be no surprise who would walk through that door and stay for awhile. I would soak all the knowledge I could from them all.
