We had the good fortune of connecting with Monica Bynum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monica, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Well what makes me happy is when my clients are happy. To know that I have done a great job and they are completely satisfied with my services. Buying or selling a home can be a very stressful situation for people and my goal is to make sure that I’m there for them every step of the way. At the end of the process, when all is done and they say Monica I’m so happy then I have completed the mission. That fuels me to go on to the next client and do it all over again.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started this real estate journey in 2017 after being laid off from a company of 22 years. The road to getting started in Real Estate wasn’t easy and it took time and hard work. I have always been a hard worker and prided myself on helping people. In 2019, I joined the Tyler Tapley Team at Crye-Leike Realtors and learned a great deal. I have around 50 deals a year since 2020. I’m very proud to have overcome some of the obstacles that I have faced in this business. You have to market yourself, you have to work on days that you don’t feel like it, you have to work long hours but it does pay off. I have learned that consistency is the key in the business. Have I mastered it? No, lol but I’m working on it. I want the world to know that you may start out frustrated and don’t know where to start but start somewhere and keep going. The path is always hard in the beginning but with dedication and consistency it will work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting I would probably get us a hotel in the downtown area and explore downtown Memphis. Memphis is all about Blues and Barbecue. We would walk around to a few restaurants downtown and maybe even catch a show at the Orpheum Theater. We are famous for Beale Street with good restaurants to visit. We would then go over to Midtown Memphis and explore some of the Restaurants and catch a live band at a few restaurants.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout God, my team members, clients, family and friends. I started this journey on 2017 and it’s been a ride so far. I know that I wouldn’t be this far without them.
