Meet Monaet Allen | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Monaet Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monaet, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My mom was a realist, and my dad was a dreamer, and I struggled with finding balance between them both. I did not grow up in a wealthy family so stability and finical freedom was a very important goal for me. I knew my calling was not the norm. I went to college, and I was completely lost and out of place. I graduated and had no clue to do next, but but all the signs kept pointing back to the same thing and that’s when I knew it was time for me to take a risk and it was the best risk I ever took and put me in the position I am in today!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a self make up artist and instructor. I love what I do because it allows me to be free and create daily and empower women. The best part about my job is being able to instill confidence in every face that I touch I love making people feel beautiful and being able to be a part of such important moments in my clients lives. Not only is my job fun, but it is so fulfilling I get to travel, meet and work with celebrities, work on movie and fashion show sets, etc. The networking opportunities are limitless and I thank God for the opportunity every day!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
i’m still learning Nashville, but a bestfriend date I would do around the city is first start off with brunch of course at “Sinema” thats one of my favorite brunch spots it’s bottomless, mimosas and brunch and it’s super cute in there, following brunch we could check out some pop-up Christmas such as chopper in East Nashville we can check out the Christmas lights, then do dinner at supper club on Belcourt, then wrap up the night at layer cake rooftop with a skyline view of the city!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to my childhood hairstylist, who inspired me and bought me my first makeup brush set and spoke so much life into me. Love you miss Keisha!
