We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikkita Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mikkita, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process started with me buying my first home at 44 years old…. Why??? Because I wish I had a ME when I bought my home in 2021…

Although I had a great Agent and an Amazing Lender… I had NO CLUE what I was in for… when I made the first call to talk to the agent, I didn’t have a clue what DTI was… what my credit score verses FICO score really was … I didn’t know the difference in down payment and closing cost… I didn’t know all the paperwork that I would need just for the PRE-approval… I just didn’t know!!!

Now don’t get me wrong I knew there was money needed. I knew that I needed a certain credit score… and I also knew that certain paperwork needed to be in order BUT I didn’t know to what extent….

After my own homebuying process, I vowed that I would not only learn and MASTER the steps BUT I would educate and HELP other first-time home buyers on the actual PROCESS!

I’m EXTREMELY passionate about educating my clients so that their Real Estate experience, (buying or selling) is as smooth as possible…,

My ideal client is the first-time homebuyer and the single parent that thinks she/he can’t possibly purchase a home without a partner.

What should our readers know about your business?
Well, I am the Founder and Executive Director of a not-for-profit organization that toured from city-to-city state to state for six years. When I decided that the time had come for me to stop touring, I knew that I wanted to do Real Estate full-time in different states. I am now a licensed Real Estate Professional in both Illinois and Tennessee.

After six years of touring and book writing, I am now an Author of about Fifteen books, I have toured over twenty states/cities, as well as internationally to tell my story. Now being in the field of Real Estate, I want to be the advocate for the urban community and teach them how to buy their first home and maintain homeownership for as long as they want. I am learning that my purpose is truly to help those that need it without judgement of how or why they are where they are in life.
The bible says in Matthew 22:14 says, “for many are invited, but few are chosen.” And I was chosen to HELP… It’s MY purpose!!!!!!!!
The thing that sets me apart is the fact that I have been down the road of bad credit, I have been down the road of financial instability. I educate my clients, teach them financial planning, credit usage, homeownership process. We as Realtors often educate the home buying process, but as Realtors, we also need to educate our buyers on how to maintain their purchase. I have seen far too many times that people buy the home to only become house poor and/or loose it in a couple years.
I want the world to know that I care. I am not the Realtor that sells you a home and you never hear from me again. Even if “our” deal doesn’t go through (which they will), I am still going to make sure you get a call, a text, a card, something to let you know I am still here for you.
I want those that are thinking about buying a home, but scared to make the purchase, think of home buying as a Generational Legacy not just your place to sleep. This may be your way to leave something behind for generations to come.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in one of the best cities in the world… CHICAGO.. So if a friend were in town, we are going to go to some New construction homes so she can see me in my safe space. I love showing homes and I would definitely take her to see what Chicago has to offer.. hint hint…

And then we are going downtown Chicago to eat some amazing food with an amazing view of Lake Michigan.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate, go hard for, live for my Daughter Ki’Yha Moore… She is my biggest inspiration.
