We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Zeller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, how do you think about risk?
I believe that I will regret the risks that I don’t take more than the risks I do take. However, a delicate balance exists between taking wise, high leverage, high upside risks and minimizing the downside of problems, obstacles, and decisions. I’ve made calculated risks that didn’t go well and cost me a lot of money. But I deeply believe those were part of my education and training.

The process of overcoming mistakes and obstacles is the process of becoming.

You will never meet someone who accomplished great things and didn’t have massive obstacles and failures to overcome. Most multi-millionnaires have gone bankrupt twice. Essentially all billionnaires have had significant failures that they learned from and became wiser. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team and missed at least 37 game winning shots in the NBA.

Failure and risk taking is the process of learning and you don’t want to see them as failures, but as training material.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I help high performing leaders rewire their subconscious, release trauma and emotional blockages, and wire themselves for flow state psychology and peak performance. To date, I’ve helped over 400 leaders and entrepreneurs take a radical leap up in their identity, their leadership, their psychology, and their ability to grow and expand their business.

My passion and awareness of trauma began when my wife experienced a debilitating mental health battle starting in October 2020 when she got pregnant. She’s a 3x suicide survivor and pregnancy began a cascade of challenging health battles, hormone balance disruption, and ultimately when Sonnet was bore, complex PTSD and deep depression set in. Our daughter would trigger my wife’s traumatic children accidentally just by crying. My wife was the oldest of 11 and her mom and step dad were the drama and trauma team, inflicting persistent pain on one another and saving a heavy dose of suffering, fear, and trauma on their oldest children.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Over a weeklong trip to Nashville, I’d take them to the following: -Mas Tacos-best authentic tacos in town.
-Patterson House-best mixology drinks in the city and one of the best in the country drink wise.
-Radnor lake-we’d definitely do a hike there as it’s the most peaceful nature walk in the city.
-One sunny afternoon, we’d head over to Centennial park for a walk, to throw a football.
-Another morning, we’d head over to Sylvan Park and play pickleball outdoors after hitting up their saturday morning farmer’s markert.
-For a casual dinner, we’d head down to Hopdoddy in Hillsboro Village to have the best burgers in town.
-For my favorite authentic Italian pizza, we’d head over to IL’Forno’s in Wedgewood Houston area, afterwards we may stop by Soho house for a drink.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have had so many great mentors throughout my life. My parents set the example for the character set of who I need to be. The books I read painted a picture of the pathway to success, wisdom, and a great life. The mentorship programs with Tony Robbins and countless others helped me believe in myself and see my gifts more clearly.

All success is built upon foundations that others built, whether in mindset, training, opportunity, or breaking through barriers.
