We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Memphis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mike, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Well I’ll say it started when I was just a kid lol. Music has always been a part of my life since a very young age. I was always doing something dealing with music whether it was singing in the youth choir or marching with the band at Manassas High. I l played instruments such as the drums, trombone, baritone and tuba. I also received a full scholarship to attend Lane College to further study the Art of music. My passion for the craft ultimately led to me doing music professionally as an adult. Music has always been an outlet for me to express myself creatively. I honestly feel like I was put here to share my gift of music with the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from other artist is the simple fact that I’m not scared to be myself. I make all types of music from Trap,Gospel,Hip-hop and much more. Growing up I always listened to music from all over the place so my range in music is very wide. Music is a form of self expression and you should be able to express freely without fear of what people may think. I most definitely didn’t get to where I’m at today by being scared. Most of time the world just wants you to be you that’s all so I just give them me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would most definitely check out a Grizzlies or University of Memphis game for sure. Then we would at some point go to the historic Beale St. to catch a few live bands and have a few drinks lol. I can’t forget about Gus Chicken,I don’t know what they’re putting in the chicken to make it taste so good. Rendezvous is another great spot to check out if you want some good barbecue. Bass Pro is another spot on my things to do list,I love everything about that place. Then for a taste of the night life we would have a good time at Club Level III or Black Betty’s on Danny Thomas. If you’re in the mood for some good shopping then I would say the Wolfchase Galleria is the place to be. Then of course you have the river front, the zoo, parks and etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well first I would like to shoutout God for allowing me to be able to share my talents with everyone. I would also like shoutout Producers SMK,Big Roe,DizzeBeatz, and D.J J-Rod for the roles they’ve played in my career. These 4 guys are some of the most talented guys I know when it comes to music so they definitely deserve some credit.
