Meet Mike Bright | Captain, Music City Soul Dance Crew

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mike Bright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mike, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor is the teamwork within our crew. The pillars of the group, which I’ve dubbed “The Big Three”, consists of myself. Ron D, and Bounce. We have all been in lockstep with each other on all things Music City Soul. Bounce and myself have been even more hands on while Ron has been working on expanded our range and reach via his travels across the country. We are constantly in communication with one another and I believer we are operating at maximum efficiency.. Each of us have our own attributes that contribute to the core of our group. We have grown tremendously, our weekly shows have gotten much larger, and our online presence continues to grow. Those are direct results from the hands on approach that we have taken. I am very proud of what have done and what we will continue to do moving forward.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Music City Soul is Dance Crew that specializes in improv entertainment. We call what we do “Interactive Entertainment” where you become part of the show instead of just standing around watching a show. You are part of the entertainment. That is what makes us different from any other dance crew, or street performer. Our shows are truly an experience and our goal is to make a lasting memory that you will want to share with others. We turn every show or event into a party.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Alright, the first thing we’re doing is getting some food. Nashville has some great spots, and one of my absolute favorites is Otaku Ramen. Authentic Ramen on the spot, and it never disappoints. The next place we are heading is of course, Downtown Nashville. Historic Printer’s Alley is a sight to see, and then we are making our way to the best spot, 2nd and Commerce where my crew performs. Did you really think I wouldn’t find a way to fit my group in there? After that, we are heading down the street to Broadway where every tourist falls in love with the city. Plenty of place to pop in and get drink, some food, and rooftop view of the city. There isn’t just one spot, Downtown Nashville is one of those places where you have to get the view from multiple locations. The only way to party, baby.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh, most definitely, and it’s hard to not name every single person who has supported us because there are SO MANY, but I think I speak for everyone in the group when I say a major shoutout goes to our crewmate, Bounce. While Ron headed out on the road, Bounce and I became a 2 man army. A lot of the things we were able to do this year, came from him stepping up and being a winning tag team partner. He has really worn the title of Co-Captain proudly and the results speak for themselves. He has been instrumental in continuing to spark interest from our supporters through his various events, and his ability to connect with our younger audience is next level. The man deserves his flowers, and I’m more than happy to give them to him.
