We had the good fortune of connecting with Micah Atkinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Micah, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have always been passionate about getting the shot. It’s something that makes me genuinely excited. Whether it’s an important interview, a gorgeous house, a speaker onstage, or a musician in a music video– finding the right angle and lighting, getting the framing just right, I just love that.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a videographer, I get thrown into many different scenarios. Real estate, events, conferences, music videos, behind the scenes. The only through line is, like I said earlier, getting the best shot. Especially now with such stellar cameras on our phones, it’s easy to just point and shoot. I don’t think people realize what a difference it makes when a shot has real thought put into it. But when they see the finished project, my clients suddenly get it. And that’s my favorite part of any job– seeing their reaction to the completed product.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When friends or family visit Nashville, I always take them to the indoor gardens at the Opry Mills Hotel. Especially at Christmas! We are also huge fans of Up Down bar/arcade and the Honey Tree Meadery right across the street! I was recently introduced to Greenhouse Bar in Green Hills, and will definitely be going back.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
2023 was an incredible year. I’ll shoutout one of my new artists, Lori Rayne, for letting me cast my vision onto her latest music videos. And also Agewell Middle TN, a nonprofit dedicated to the wellness of our senior population, for trusting me to cover the 2023 Sage Awards, honoring some of Tennessee’s most prolific philanthropists.
