We had the good fortune of connecting with Marvin Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marvin, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
One of the ways to know whether to keep going or give up its to know if the cost to achieve your why is worth the effort. Oftentimes the goal we seek to gain comes at a price and during the journey we experience setbacks, roadblocks and detours. This is where our resolve is tested and the core of who we are comes to the surface and decisions are made “to or through”. Moving towards our goal causes us to go through to the end, but the inverse is the same if we decide not to go to our goal then were through!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I’m currently a Construction Manager for Amazon. I work on commercial builds that include a host of project types from the ground up, to expansions, and renovations. I specialize in galvanizing team leads and stakeholders to produce the design intent and vision outcome for the business needs. I’m also great at “making things happen in clutch moments,” that means when challenging opportunities arise I’m able to aid in contributing to the solution that helps the team.

I’m most proud of how I connect with stakeholders from different business units to accomplish the common goal while accelerating the speed to the finish line. Through our individual efforts of becoming more equipped to do our best work, I’d say is the secret sauce to our success. This is similar to the work I do as a Content Creator. The goal is to create solutions to difficult challenges to learn from and become better, I’ve had my own set of hard life lessons both professionally and personally. My key takeaway is that you don’t lose, you learn and become more than before.

What I like the world to know about me, and my brand is that all things start with one and end with one. I’ve come to know that everything rises and fall with me but there’s growth with each life lesson. This is the source of my content creation efforts of Becoming One. Whether in our faith, business and relationships I endeavor to help people become a better version of themselves “In Him, With Us, For All”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If my best friend came into the city to spend the week I’d do a variety of things but also consider his likes. I start with great food restaurants like Monells, Perry Steakhouse and Edley’s Barbecue. The Twelve Thirty Club for evening and great music and any sports bar.

For Activities, A bike ride on Shelby Bottoms or any mountain bike trail. Sporting events depending on the season( Football, WWE, NBA, UFC).

Places: Downtown Franklin for suburban culture, Broadway in Downtown Nashville especially during CMA Fest. The Parthenon for historical sites. A friends house to watch the game with bunch of guys

Last but not least, church service because the fellowship of believers is important.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One recognizable entity is not enough to attribute to my success. Therefore, I’d say that I have a community that has added value, love and support throughout my journey. Starting with family my Dad who always had my back and cheered me on. My Mom-in-Love whose key phrase “If I can look up I can get up” came through when I needed it most. My children who I’m honored to be their dad. I’d be remised if I didn’t shout out the churches near and far, Thompson Station Church here in TN where I attend, One Community Church, in Plano, Texas, Church Unusual in Houston TX to name a few. Ramsey Solutions and the work that they do every day that has impacted me personally. Lastly, all the construction trade partners and Amazonians I work with that have shaped the leader I am today.
