We had the good fortune of connecting with Marty Ray Project and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marty, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The old adage, “no risk, no reward,” is actually one of the best life mantra’s one can adopt. It is true in every aspect of our lives actually: not just in business. There are many opportunities that I missed out on because I was not willing to take the risk. Contrarily though, there are many moments and advances in my life that came because I was willing to take the risk involved. God has opened doors for me that I could not even begin to describe to someone. The things that He has done through my small bit of effort are truly mesmerizing. Even in my faith in Jesus I am called to take risks. You cannot ask someone if they need prayer, and then be willing to pray, right then, without being willing to take risks. Risk taking is where God shows up in the biggest ways I believe because it is in those moments that we are acting out in the highest form of faith.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a singer/songwriter that was born in Memphis, TN, raised in Blytheville, AR, and now lives in Nashville, TN. I was just given the gift of singing from birth. I always say that, “My mama said when I cried as a baby it sounded like a song,” I have no clue if that’s true or not, but if it did actually happen it would be cool. I have been doing whatever I could in the entertainment world full time for about 12 years, I think. Beyond just singing, songwriting, playing shows, and posting videos, I have also been an actor, an article writer, a speaker, and a podcast host; whatever door God opens for me I walk through it. I am now going to be selling real estate in between show dates. While every one else is getting out of the real estate business it seems, I feel led to get involved. I have some great ideas for how I can deliver the best, most enjoyable, experience to anyone that becomes my client. I guess to answer the question properly, I would just have to say I have learned to become a chameleon in my business life. Meaning, when new doors and opportunities come my way, I adapt and run through them in faith.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am definitely what they call a “foodie” so food would be the biggest part of what my friends and I would do. Some of my favorite places to eat are: Monells for the family style country cookin’, Pinewood social for some duck fat fries, burger sliders, and a little bowling, some Maggianos for Italian, and even though I’m a Memphis boy and BBQ is close to my heart, Shotgun Willies for some of the best BBQ I’ve had. In the midst of that week we would definitely be visiting some of Nashville’s pastry shops and bakeries for some sweet treats. As far as things we would outside of shoveling copious amounts of food in our faces, we would absolutely have to go to the Grand Ole Opry, and catch a show at the Ryman. We would hopefully be able to get to a Predators game, if they came during hockey season; maybe see some bodies slammed against some glass. Also, I really love seeing movies in the AMC 4DX Theater, so we’d most likely go watch whatever movie was showing at the time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Well, first and foremost I have to always give all glory and credit for this wonderful life I have to Jesus Christ. My beautiful wife and two daughters are some of the greatest treasures He’s given me in this life and without them I would have no chance at survival, in every facet of life. Also, there have been some kings in this world that have encouraged me along my journey as well: BB King, Charlie Daniels, Tracey Lawrence, Darius Rucker, etc. I don’t mean just as role models from a distance, but they have given me words and spoken into my life directly, face to face. There are actually many people that have believed in me through the years and I could never list them all here, but each one is so vitally important to me and I am grateful for every single one of them. Most especially all the fans of mine that have supported me through the years, for without them, I am not able to do anything that I do.
