Meet Marjorie Poff | Owner and Creator of Enneaplanner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marjorie Poff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marjorie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am passionate about how people tick and work efficiently. If you put a personality test in front of me, I will devour it. When I was introduced to the Enneagram system, I felt like I found my home. I saw that it helped me not only understand myself better but also I could understand those around me better. I better understood why we all had different ways of working and getting tasks done. Part of my personality is that I love organizing and planning. Yet, finding a daily planner that worked for me has been a struggle. Planners have either been too simple or had too many items to fit on a page. It was frustrating not to find something that worked for how my brain processes tasks. I heard from other people who had the same issue and thought using the Enneagram to create planners specific for each Enneagram number would be life-changing for so many of us. It was then that I got busy designing nine different planners that would feel like a custom planner without the customer having to do the customization work.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Enneaplanner is a physical planner company. We create planners that are based on the Enneagram personality system. No two numbers of Enneaplanner have the same layout or identical elements. My desire for Enneaplanner is to help us all become our most efficient selves and to feel seen. I am a planner to my core. Even as a little girl, I was the one telling everyone which characters they would play in our make-believe games, the ones who organized group projects, and who had all my birthday parties planned out every year. And now, as an adult, my days tend to be structured and routine, and making decisions comes at ease. However, trying to use a paper planner has been a daunting task that left me overwhelmed and frustrated. I also consider myself an Enneagram One, so the previous sentence should not be true. I also had conversations with people that had the same problem. They would be on the constant hunt for a planner that would be helpful for their needs. In processing these conversations, I realized the frustration IS that planners either try to throw as much into each page as possible so that there is something for everyone or are just bland calendars. Because of this, many people like myself end up giving up on their planners even before seeing a new month.
Along with my love of planning and organizing, I geek out over learning what makes people tick. Several years ago, I was introduced to the Enneagram and found it fascinating. I’ve loved how it looked beyond the surface of my personality and revealed core motivations, fears, and desires. The Enneagram is a valuable tool for all areas of life, so I thought, why not use it to make us all more productive in organizing our day-to-day? We spend too much time and money going through planner after planner because we want to be organized and efficient. As someone who desires to improve the things around me, it was time to stop being frustrated and create a solution these two passions of mine.
Thus the birth of Enneaplanner. The planner with your Enneagram type in mind. After several months of extensive research, the differences of each Enneagram type became more apparent, and the need for a more personalized planner experience was evident. We humans each have a different way to process information which leads to different ways of productivity. Instead of trying to make people fit into some 8 steps to a better day box, why not lean into our unique personalities and use that information to help the individual be at their most effective.
Using the main traits of each Enneagram type, Enneaplanner is a series of 9 different planners. Some are daily. Some are weekly. We have gone a bit outside the box to tap into what helps each Enneagram type have productive days. Our desire is that when a person picks up their Enneaplanner they see a planner that feels custom designed for them. And when we hear stories from people that wonder how we read their mind…there is nothing better.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many spots in the Nashville area to take in. I feel like there is something for everyone. I love doing things off the beaten path. I love the smaller suburbs and their downtown areas. Being a part of the long history of this area. One of my favorite places to eat is Buck and Board, and then walking around the little shops in the area.
I also enjoy the vineyards all around the area. Arrington outside of Franklin, Amber Falls in Hampshire.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
