Meet Marin Rylee | Dancer, Singer/Songwriter, Actress and Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marin Rylee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, I never really thought that much about it. I just couldn’t imagine myself doing anything other than music, dance and/or acting.

Now that I’m a little older and have more experience in the entertainment world, I do see the freedom in being and running your own business. It makes every accomplishment that much more meaningful! Every job that I’m booked for is something new and exciting! And no job is ever like the last one. It’s refreshing! Even in seasons of little work, you make yourself busy. You find a way to grow.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started dancing at a studio in Agoura Hills, California when I was pretty young and like a lot of other dancers I went into the dance competition world. I ended up with a dance agent when I was 16 and started touring with the dance competition/convention “LA Dance Magic” who I still work for to this day. While doing all of that, I hadn’t ever officially booked a dance job. I was auditioning, taking classes, networking… but something wasn’t clicking.

During 2020, I made a decision that would change everything. I moved to Nashville, TN. A lot of people told me that wasn’t a good move if I really wanted to work as a dancer. To this day I still have people tell me that you need to be in LA or NY if you want to make it big… I don’t believe that’s the case anymore.

Since moving to Nashville, I’ve worked for artists such as Dolly Parton, Kane Brown, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Jimmy Fallon, and Miley Cyrus. I danced in “Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas.” I’ve been blessed to work on countless music videos, print jobs and even a tv show out of Atlanta.

My journey has not been easy. Most of my life and career has been going against the grain. I was homeschooled. I dyed my hair pink. I didn’t go to college. I left Los Angeles. I work with a smaller boutique agency instead of a big one. My brand is different from others because my path has been different. And I wouldn’t change a thing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First stop would absolutely be Bartaco! (I’m a huge taco girl! And their guac is to die for!) After that we’d spend some time in 12th South hopping in and out of the cute shops around there.

I’m not a partier, but I would have to take them down to broadway at night if they’ve never been before. It’s one of those places you gotta see once because its unlike anything else. Plus the Assembly Food Hall is an awesome place for a group hang.

One of my all time favorite spots is “Elroy” in Franklin, TN. It’s an Aussie owned coffee shop and just has the nicest energy and atmosphere. The owners are family friends of ours and they truly have a heart to share their culture with the locals. The coffee is great! They serve authentic meat pies and sausage rolls in addition to other yummy baked goods. It’s just my favorite spot!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Joy Denver Spears!!! Without hesitation she took me under her wing when I first moved to Nashville back in 2021. Since then she’s been my best friend, amazing role model and someone who pushes me to be better every single day. Joy is extremely talented with a resume that will blow your mind, and yet she focuses on the accomplishments of those around her. That’s why she’s one of the number one choreographers in Nashville. Because she shows the world time and time again that being a good person is the true path to success!
