Meet Mandii Brown | Mental Health Counselor, Certified Life Coach, and Motivational Speaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandii Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mandii, what do you want your legacy to be?
As I reflect on my life, I often wonder what kind of legacy I will leave behind. And I have come to the conclusion that I want to be remembered for my vulnerability and relatability. I want people to see me as imperfect, yet always striving to change and evolve. I want to inspire others to heal, even as I work on healing myself.
Most importantly, I want my children to remember that life is a balance of highs and lows, and that both have their own beauty and ugliness. I want them to know that it’s okay to try and fail, as long as they keep trying to do better and be better.
And so, I urge you to remember that “I’ve always tried”. I’ve tried to find solutions when there seemed to be none. I’ve tried to stay strong when I felt weak. And I’ve always tried to stay true to myself. Because that’s what I would want for you. So let us all strive to leave a legacy of vulnerability, growth, and perseverance.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Many of you may know me currently as “The Relatable Counselor”, (now the The Relatable Counselor LLC) but when I first started her mental health licensure journey, she was formerly known as “The Relatable LPC-Intern”.
I realized that as a non-traditional student and a woman of color, that my approach to the field was completely different from my peers. And through trials and tribulations, I discovered my voice but also advocacy. I launched the mental health platform “Well What Had Happened Was”.com to allow others to tell their own stories and truth, to connect with mental health professionals and resources, AND even listed resources for those preparing to become “second chance citizens”.
No matter the location I am called to, I want to ensure and provide people with a safe, relaxing environment while encouraging conscious yet intimate conversations.
Now as a Counselor, Certified Life Coach, Holistic Wellness coach, and Neuro-Linguistic Program Practitioner, I wanted to be well-rounded for those who are not ready for therapy, but wanted to be met where they are.
My enthusiasm for guiding others towards a brighter future, shines through in every session. I firmly believes in the power of resilience and self-discovery, and my cheerful yet empathetic nature allows clients to feel comfortable and supported throughout their coaching or counseling journey.
Whether it’s helping someone process or provide the tools to navigate through grief and provide resources to heal from traumatic
experiences.
Or facilitate to create an inclusive and equitable environment for companies to ensure fairness and respect.
Or even commit to empowering individuals to reclaim their lives and thrive as they begin channeling their inner resilience; I believe I am the one for the job.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout to my personal and professional village for getting me through this last year in every aspect. Without you, there would no be a continuation of #WWHHW or #TRC. You all have installed resilience, courage, love, and power in me that I never knew I could activate. Thank you
