We had the good fortune of connecting with Malik Johnson M.K.J. (My King Jesus) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malik Johnson, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is a strong team, and accountability. Having teammates who aren’t “yes men” that can correct you when you’re wrong, and wants the absolute best for you is extremely vital to success.

Having the vision, and the provision, is the KEY to success!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Malik Kiambe Johnson, stage name is “M.K.J. (My King Jesus).”

I am a Christian Rapper from Memphis, TN, (Memphis CHH) who makes conscious and relevant music that speaks to the culture, our society, and our youth, with solution-driven music based on the “Good News”.

I also own my record label, “10:15 Records”, which is based on Romans 10:15. I’ve been doing music now for nearly 15 years, and I’ve had my record label for over 10 years. Over these years, I’ve been blessed to do over 400 shows and tours around the country, I’ve been on many TV stations (most noted: ABC 24, Action News 5, News Channel 3, etc.)

All 20+ music/lyric videos I’ve released have combined for over 300,000 views between Youtube and Facebook.

Although I’m full-time in music when I’m not on the road, I mentor young men and I’m also the youth pastor at Breath Of Life Christian Center.

I gave my life to Christ at age 13. He called me to do music at 14. I haven’t looked back since!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off, the biggest shoutout I can ever give is to what my stage name stands for: MY KING JESUS! All glory to Jesus for saving my life, giving me life, and purpose to fulfill in this life!

And of course, my parents for their raising of me, my team for holding me down, and MOST DEFINITELY my amazing wife Yasmin, for just being everything a man can ever ask for in his queen.
