Meet Makayla Louis | Founder, CEO, Notary Public, and Minister

We had the good fortune of connecting with Makayla Louis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Makayla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was sitting in my previous job and was browsing different types of work to better help myself financially. I spoke to a patron at the time and they told me about being a mobile notary, we discussed it over and that’s where is stayed. It wasn’t until a dear friend of mine made me revisit the thought to become a notary, he walked me through the steps himself took and I followed suite. My friend, Malik Epps, literally is how I started my business. I told him I filled out all the needed documents like he told me and I waited. It was about a month long wait with additional days due to the Christmas holiday that approached after turning in my forms. I received my commission on January 3, 2023 and got my business license for both county and state and ran! Research, constant studying of the laws, understanding the logistics of notary and the realms it holds. I wanted to help myself and others, and I saw a vision for my business. I took the initiative to go further with my commission and began the works of my ministry. I became two time ordained by the American Marriage Ministries and Universal Life Church. My ministry was a bit more detailed in the laws of what I was able to do and how and where. The diligence I had to continue studying and practicing was the key to my success. I began working on the study guides to become a loan signing agent with the National Notary Association. Their course was very challenging but we powered through and started expanding business services. My business started out as a thought of needing to pay bills to becoming a business that helps bring couples together and the information needed when documentation needs legalization.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The difference between my business and others are my ambition to assist the community. I’m not only local to Clarksville TN but and willing to travel the full length of the state. In certain aspects I will travel nationwide for my business willingly to help, while within the means of my commission. I take all the hard work off my clients and handle it for them. Getting to where I am now I have faced plenty of ups and downs, but never allowed them to keep me down. I am one of very few that within six months of opening business was I approved by the Better Business Bureau for accreditation. I have always carried my licensure for both county and state updated when needed. I have always made sure that all my work was insured, even the most prestigious firm needs protection. I know exactly what my business is worth and want to convey that to my clientele. Giving them a sight into who they are hiring. The road was a bit bumpy but that’s to be expected when entering any field as a beginner.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being a working entrepreneur, I have set my eyes on various of environments and can honestly say my best spot is wherever I am. I make the most of my time everywhere I go and with what I’m doing. I enjoy food a lot and could offer various places to eat but it’s just up to the vibe I feel. Food is always a destination for myself. I’m social but don’t like to be in the mix personally. My job and business breaks me out of my shell when capable. Sometimes being reserved is good but knowing how to work a conversation is vital as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Malik and Keymonte Epps, they are my dear friends that helped me understand exactly what it was a notary did and how I began my process to becoming a notary public. In my friends’ own words, “we gave her the information and she took off, she took everything we gave her and made it her own.” I became a business owner to not only help myself but to assist those in need of documentation notarization. That turned into my business being the force it is now, a service hub for not only documents to be notarized but to bring and help couple in matrimony and an assistive hand in loan signing.
