We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Powell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Merrillville Indiana and I am a Christian who loves to use my Christianity to express myself. I have a strong sense of faith and love towards helping and healing others by giving them Christ. My upbringing was not centered around religion, but now that I have found my way I use my influence to help others. I have a YouTube channel LisaPowellMusic and a Podcast titled Lisa’s Initial Thoughts and this is where I reach out to people giving them hope and encouragement.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My channel speaks on truth and facts. I am a very humble person and always have put others first. Sometimes that makes me be more trusting than I should be. I am a hard worker and very creative. Writer of my own music and I am the author of the book Practicality Through the Eyes of God. I am a news reporter for WESL 1400 satellite radio. I am proud of myself because even when no one believed me I believed in myself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Chicago and out, to my favorite Korean restaurant. It’s not to much to here in my town, Chicago is only thirty miles away.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My support system comes from Travis Cooper, Dana Lawrence, Kevin Powell, Sheila Coursey, Mary Young. My church family is very supportive as well.
