We had the good fortune of connecting with Latina Sheard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was a single mother then and desperately needed to supplement my income. I knew that I was crafty so I started making gifts and shirts for people to purchase. Then I was presented with the opportunity to get a $5k contract so I went ahead and got an EIN and a business license.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a creative person. What sets me apart from others is that I can take visual or spoken inspiration and create, sometimes what my clients can’t put into words.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would have to hit up Mexico Chicquita to go for a girls’ night in because I love their TexMex. Other than that I like the downtown night life, free offerings from the Central Arkansas Library system, and I feel that there are so many cool, local and chain places to eat in Little Rock right now that we could probably “spin the wheel” and have a blast where it lands!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My 2 sons, Aaron and Terius, are my motivation for starting a business and have always been very understanding and supportive.
