Meet LaShonté Pop | Recording Artist & Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaShonté Pop and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaShonté, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
My purpose chose me. God shows me the visions and will not ever allow me to be content until I bring them to fruition. I don’t have a choice. If I’m not creating, I’m not living. I am a creator. Not giving up boils down to knowing what makes you tick. Because once the tick is gone, you’re only existing.
Taking breaks is crucial – but you can always come back stronger.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Most know me from Jookin around the city… but first and foremost I’m an RnB/Pop recording artist. Making and performing my music is my greatest joy and honor. My next album is on the way and I’m extremely excited about it! This new music really shows my personal growth thru tribulations and pain; now the phoenix has risen. I’ve also just recently dropped my first merch line! It’s an amazing feeling to see my aspirations now in clothing and accessories. I don’t believe any passion is easy. There’s always a give and take; an exchange of energy.
Balancing life, art and work has always been tough for me. Being a Mom, wife, working full time, managing businesses and brands AND being an independent music artist keeps my head spinning!
Rest, celebration and affirmations are key to perseverance. Rest being the most important. You cannot pour from an empty cup. There’s no rush because what’s for you is for you. take your time, just don’t waste it.
I want the world to know we can all be better when we focus on elevating self…..We can all seek to go higher and HIGHER. And that’s what my next album represents (and the merch too): seeking your highest self.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well my best friend is also from Memphis and one of our favorite things to do is visit Beale St and get some frozen drinks! Raiford’s Disco is always a win too! We’d also visit Shelby Farms to take the kids to the park on the family side of things.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Most High! All the praise and glory. Definitely have to shout out my family. My husbabe, children and parents are super supportive of everything I do. And absolutely my fans, they keep me going strong.
