Meet LaKendra Reed | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaKendra Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaKendra, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is creating and maintaining client relationships. As a portrait artist, I strive to make the client’s experience memorable as their portraits will be the core of their memories when sharing their beautiful stories. My number one goal is to maintain the client relationship as I have noticed that much of my clientele is from previous client’s referrals over my social media platforms.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am mostly excited about the growth I have shown over the last two years in studio photography. I started capturing events and outdoor photography and later moved to a studio. Although I still capture outdoor portraits, I have grown to absolutely love studio photography. A second favorite art to capture is sports, specifically baseball photography. I enjoy capturing the highlight moments of the game for players and parents to later share with their friends and family. Action shots are my favorite and sports allows me to capture those moments while players are in their element of the game.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To show my best friend a great time we would visit Char, Ruth Chris, Seasons 52 and Flemings for dinner. We would have a nice meal and drinks before going to the movies, axe throwing or a fun outing at Top Golf. Since we have children we would incorporate Urban Air or Main Event into the itinerary. We would also include sometime at Overton Park or Shelby Farms for exercise and getting the kids out to play. For brunch, we would visit: Staks, Thrive, The Sunrise or Salt for a great time and great food and drinks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes! I would love to dedicate my Shoutout to my family, especially my mother who helped to jumpstart my photography career! She was the first person who taught me basic photography as she is a photographer herself. My husband has been special support as he has been my biggest fan as I have grown in my photography career. He has been a thought partner for client communication as well as supported me with props and he’s been an extra eye while editing. I would also like to dedicate this feature to my best friend and family who has supported me through booking sessions, sharing my pictures and being a special part of my brand.
