We had the good fortune of connecting with Kylie Nugent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kylie, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind my success is working to my own tastes. So many times we get caught up what other people think of our work, or what other people may like to see. That awareness may sometimes lead to a creative block when trying to figure out what direction to take with our projects. I find that if I just create things that I personally love, others tend to love them as well. I try to participate in craft markets that I would go to as a customer, so I know that people in my audience may have the same kind of appreciation for my creations as I do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create resin art and jewelry, usually with plants and other things I find in nature. I first started exploring with resin art after my husband gifted me an epoxy resin set and some molds for Christmas in 2021. After quite a bit of research on how to work with epoxy I made my first few projects a couple of months later and was surprised and happy to find that I had quite a knack for it. It took some trial and error to learn the nuances of epoxy and UV resin, but I loved learning how to improve my art. After much positive feedback I started selling my designs online and at craft markets, and it has been growing since then! I love finding new markets to be a part of and meeting new people that come into my booth.
I try to set myself apart from other resin artists by using a lot of plants, bugs and other things I find in nature to make things that are functional as well as beautiful. I love being able to try new techniques and come up with new designs that are unique and one of a kind. No two pieces of my jewelry or art are ever alike! I am proud to make pieces that stand out, I think the world needs more originality.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the Parthenon! The giant Athena statue is a true work of art, and amazing to see in person. My favorite hidden gem is the giant mosaic dragon at Fannie Mae Dees park, I can spend all day looking at the different mosaic pictures on the surface.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my husband, who started this journey with a Christmas present. He supports all of my artistic endeavors and ideas and helps them grow into reality.
