Meet Kris Castilon | Visual Storyteller

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kris Castilon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kris, what do you want your legacy to be?
My goal since I started creating was to visually speak to someone and hold their gaze for more than thirty seconds. I want to be known as a storyteller, someone who could put life into anything. Even believe that Mr.Moon is a person and he has his own house inside where we play cards at night. You know, make the impossible, possible.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The act of making anything is an artistic surprise and gift. & for me, collaging and journaling conceptually, through stitching photographs together, has helped me to understand what I’m capable of, things I’m going through, and hopefully reach others to feel more grounded to the earth. Of course it helps my mental health tremendously, it makes me feel like I’m doing something right. Which is how everyone wants to feel I think, I’m very thankful for this medium of possibility.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In every season of life, I get granted someone I admire and look up to. Someone who is such a good human, that you can’t help but just love them. My shoutouts are to Jerry Uelsmann (the first to composite with film ever), Tom Stanford (my college professor at Nossi College Of Arts), my sweet encouraging friends and my mom!
