We had the good fortune of connecting with Kisha J and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kisha, why did you pursue a creative career?
Creativity has always been a cornerstone of my life. As a child, I was constantly drawing and singing, driven by a deep love for music that endures to this day. In my adult life, my first career as a hairstylist allowed me to express my creativity daily. Now, through my current business, I have the incredible opportunity to help others showcase their talents and creativity. I am passionate about helping people shine, and if I can open doors for them through creativity, that’s a legacy I can be truly proud of.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
BTM is a multifaceted hub, offering a content studio, co-working space, and, most recently, independent postal services. Recognizing the scarcity of such resources in our community, I felt it was essential to provide these opportunities to help mitigate the disadvantages faced by many. The lack of resources is often the root of these disadvantages, and it’s time to change that. My goal is to ensure that all our services are affordable, enabling people to take the first step toward their dreams. Too often, we hold back from pursuing our goals due to a lack of accessible resources. At BTM, we’re here to help people simply start.
I am so excited to able to service my community. My father’s side has always been Whitehaven residents and to see what my community came from makes me excited to know where we can transition back to, and I want to be a part of that reshaping. My community deserves nice things and professional places shop.

I’ve always had a strong drive and entrepreneurial spirit. In high school, I sold chips and juices, worked two jobs, and still managed to graduate. From an early age, I understood that I had to do what was necessary to achieve my goals. Navigating the world of social media has been my biggest challenge, but I know it’s essential to engage with my virtual audience to raise awareness for my business. I’m constantly researching and learning from others to enhance my digital marketing strategies. Despite the hurdles, I push through by showcasing my creativity at every opportunity.

What sets me apart in business is my commitment to treating clients the way I would want my own family to be treated. This mindset drives me to go above and beyond for my clients. Additionally, I constantly seek creative approaches to business, proving that it doesn’t have to be boring.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the power of networking. It can open countless doors, connect you with the right people, and unveil opportunities you might never have discovered otherwise. Building genuine relationships and staying true to your word are essential keys to a successful business.

I want people to understand that BTM stands for “Bigger Than Me” because I recognize that everything I do impacts more than just myself. My purpose in life is to serve others in a way that benefits everyone. The mission of my business is to extend our reach, enabling us to help more people positively impact others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start the day by taking my friend to the Egg King Cafe for breakfast because they have the best pancakes. After breakfast, we would stroll downtown to see the sights on Beale Street. Then, we’d head over to Crosstown to explore the beautiful building and grab a bite to eat at Farm Burger, followed by some delicious gelato from Sweet Magnolia. In the evening, we’d dress up for dinner at Sage and then head to Paula Rayford’s Disco to dance the night away

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family is my rock! My husband and kids have been by my side, helping me with marketing, decorating, and putting in long hours. Life would be so much harder without their unwavering support. Venturing into podcasting has also introduced me to incredible people who have become a supportive community, renewing my faith in the kindness and generosity of others.
