We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Greenwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work-life balance, like all things in life, is a choice. A few years ago, my life was extremely unbalanced. I lived in two cities but didn’t have much social life.

It was fun at first, but after a while, life becomes very transactional and lonely. It is one of the primary reasons I decided to stop airing My Southern Home in the Louisville market.

In July 2023, I decided to sell my condo in Louisville, KY, and move to Nashville, TN. After nearly eight years of producing My Southern Home in Louisville, KY, and Nashville, TN, I downsized to one market and called Nashville home.

It took me close to a year to close down the show and settle into a new lifestyle. Almost two years later, I am happy, settled, involved in the community, and launching new initiatives.

Change is hard, and stepping back and being honest with how you live your life is hard, but it is the only way to make tomorrow, next month, and next year different.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My goal every day with My Southern Home is to educate and inspire homeowners to create their dream spaces. From crawl space encapsulation to cabinetry, we talk about all things home.

My Southern Home is the only local home-related television show in Middle Tennessee. We introduce you to local contractors, designers, and showcase local homes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a hard question. There are so many fun and unique things to do!

A singer-songwriter night is a must! It is very unique to Nashville. I love hearing the stories behind the songs you hear on the radio. My favorite venue is The Listening Room.

During the summer, you can watch a movie under the stars at the Bicentennial Capital Mall. This year, I’ll be watching Top Gun during 4th of July weekend!

I love listening to bluegrass and having a picnic with friends at Arrington Vineyards. The vineyard is gorgeous and they have amazing wines.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friends were a huge support system for me when I started My Southern Home, and when I expanded and decided to downsize the show. Life takes a village. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by a lot of successful women.
