Meet Kevin Mahoney | Singer-Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Mahoney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
There definitely is a passion to create, `to play. The collaborative environment with other songwriters is something that always fulfilled me creatively. I love being with other songwriters, musicians, singers and hearing their original music or their take on intricate covers. We are all cut from the same old apparently and it’s always so amazing to hear them share their passion as well. I have to do this…..it’s who I am…..
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I play everyday – no matter what, I do something for my music daily. I’ll send out an email, write a lyric, structure a chord progression or go over the songs for my next set – something daily!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many places in Nashville, Knoxville. I would pick them up in Knoxville and we would have lunch at the Townsend Abbey. Great food, amazing venue! After that we would drive to Watts Bar Beer Works (Spring City) – another incredible place with an amazing team to take care of you! Love playing there! Then we’d go to Jim Oliver’s Smokehouse (Monteagle) – listen to some great talented friends play and enjoy their awesome food! Another favorite of mine to play! After that, we’d go to either the Commodore Grille or Millennium Maxwell House where we’d play in a round. I’m blessed to play at these amazing venues!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I share any success with the songwriting community. There are so many talented people out there that are leaving their bedrooms, basements, etc… to go out and share their songs with you, If you see a theater, coffeehouse, pub that has “Open Mic Night” or “Singer-Songwriter Night” please attend. There’s not an amount of money that could fit in a tip jar that would be better than playing in front of people. You never know what you’ll hear and it may surprise you!
