We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Hood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendra, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Balance for me changes all the time. I went from only balancing having a steady job, to steady job along with a family and business. As the family grow, the scales of balance changes as well. I still think of balance as a system that needs updating often. Every day brings new challenges and adventures; one must adjust to meet and experience it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Plez-Her Novelties. What sets us apart is our dedication to ensure people understand and value the gift of pleasure. I am most proud of just jumping off the curb and going for it. This business road is never an easy one, I still face battles and I’m a few years in. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to never give up in the middle of a project. Things may not go as you want, but see it through. Take the obstacles and turn them into achievements. Plez-Her Novelties started as a fun joke/ hobby with friends. My friends believe in it before I did and to this day, they are the constant encouragers and reinforcement of the brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, we will be attending brunch at Salt and a sweet treat from Gimme Sugar Bakery. Those are some of my favorites spots in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can think of many people in my life who deserves credit and recognition. If I had to pick, I would pick my amazing group of friends. Each one of them are rooting for me as I am for them daily. I would definitely shout them out!
