We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendall Duffie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendall, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
If you are alive you should NEVER give up. I always say to myself “If it was easy. everybody would do it”
Every obstacle and challenge that you overcome is an inspiration for someone else to not give up. It’s like watching your favorite sports team losing a game but you don’t want to see them give up right…then all of a sudden, the momentum changes and you’re filled with inspiration watching them come from behind and win! And even more so than seeing your team dominate and win convincingly. Such is life, those come from behind wins just hit different.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my vegan food brand Deep Sea Vegan based out of my love for scuba diving and the ocean.
Deep Sea Vegan started as a pop up restaurant and we transitioned to a mobile food truck in 2024. We are now working to establish a chain of brick and mortars as well as having some of our products in stores and online.
I recently wrote my first book entitled
The 75/25 Rule –
A Divemaster’s guide to tapping into the greater percentage of what life has to offer!
The book is available now on Amazon.com
It’s a book to help you unlock your thinking through the inspiration and lessons I have learned from scuba diving and the ocean.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Nashville has grown so much over the years. I love the downtown area especially in the summer. I love checking out the various plant based eateries around town and enjoying the diverse live music scene Nashville has to offer!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My sister Michelle and twin brother Kelvis and I have always worked together. They are definitely key components to my success and ability to keep going.
Our mother instilled a strong sense of faith in us from a very early age and that has been the backbone and glue to keep it all together.
