Meet Kay Elliott | Stylist/ Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay Elliott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kay, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is my consistency and my dare to be different. Yes, there are a million clothing brands but there are not a million brand that represent what I represent nor who is representing it. The meaning behind my brand is a lifestyle and without it a person wouldn’t understand why we push so hard for people to keep phasing and be their authentic selves. It’s deeper than just looking good.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most proud that my brand stand for something. My brand gives people a reason to get up everyday and keep phasing, to keep going even life sometimes tells you not to. My brand is also a reminder that life doesn’t stop because you’re going through something. No matter what you’re going through, that trouble won’t last always and that if you just keep going there’s light at the end of the tunnel. I got to this level off of faith and determination. There were many road blocks and stops along the way. But how can I preach to people to never give up and not apply that to myself? No this journey has not been easy and it still isn’t easy. I know that with consistency and persistence that I can accomplish anything I want to accomplish in life. I want the world to know that nothing is by mistake. If you can think it then it can come to life. Never let anyone stop what God has in store for you. Always lead with love because that’s where your blessings come from.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably take them to Ponce City Market for one. There is a roof top where at night adults can have drinks and fun while over looking the city. I would also take them to Chattahoochee Food Works to eat because it’s a place with a variety of food spots from all different cultures. It’s basically a one stop shop. There are so many places to lounge in Atlanta to name. I just know it would be a chill spot with some hookah and good music. (I don’t smoke hookah lol)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe there’s a number of people that deserves some credit for being apart of my story. Just to name a few… I would first like to thank my partner Casey Ellerby aka Jersey Moulin. She has always pushed me to be my better self. Never allows me to settle and is always helping stretch myself even if it felt a little uncomfortable. I would also like to thank Teresa owner of Stud Model Project. Thank you for always making sure my name is mentioned in the room even if I’m not there. Thank you for putting me in rooms and believing in me past what I believe. Last but not least my photographer Nor. Thank you for always capturing the moments.
