Meet Karrick Adams | Graphic Designer, Illustrator, & an Animator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Karrick Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karrick, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risks is essential in order to be successful. Taking risks means stepping out of your comfort zone. If you have a vision, dream, or a passion- there is no “safe route”. Sometimes it is that gut instinct that helps you to move forward. That leap of faith most likely won’t come with a parachute. There was a time when I needed to make a life-changing move, but I kept remaining hesitant. That’s when God gave me that “push”, and closed the door behind me. Most times, the things that we pray for comes with an answer that we may not understand, so we must rely on our faith to lead us through. And that means, taking a risk and being comfortable with the outcome.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
First off, I am a graphic designer, illustrator, and an animator. Probably what sets me apart is that I am a left-handed artist. I don’t think I’ve met a lot of left-handed artists. I am excited to be making a living as a creative- because everyone is not able to do so. I am pretty sure I got to where I am by being consistent as an artist, and building a name for myself in the creative community. Of course, anything worth having is not easy to obtain-so there you have it. And my consistency is key to overcoming any challenges. You have to persevere and push through. What I want the world to know about me is that -THE BEST IS YET TO COME!! I haven’t even touched my PEAK!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It depends on the friend. I surround myself with a diverse group of individuals. I’m the type that will jump from a paint and sip to axe throwing. Memphis has a lot of new and exciting establishments and its continuing to grow. But you can never go wrong with a good basketball game, the vibes are always crazy!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ll just say that those whose GENUINELY support me know who they are. Other than that, I give ALL the credit to God. God gave me the gifts and I am thankful for his blessings.
