Meet KARA GRESKOVIC | Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with KARA GRESKOVIC and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi KARA, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Habits are so underrated when it comes ton achieving your goals, both personal and business wise. I believe there are several habits that really helped me with my business and creative success. One of my habits is to always allowing myself to have a reward, whether it’s an afternoon iced latte or a smoothie from my favorite juice place. This allows you to romanticize your life and your work and do the best job possible. Another habit is to prioritize organization, both daily and monthly. I make it a habit to always write down my monthly goals and from there, create daily goals. Without this, I would be like a chicken with my head cut off! Finally, another habit is to always put listening before talking. I always try to listen to my peers and clients and artists 60% more than what I took. This not only allows others to feel heard, but opens up your mind and allows you to learn so much about the people around you.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a music producer that currently works in pop, rock, and country. I work with a lot of young artists, and love to not only help them develop their music, but help them create their brand and sound and artist identity. Even then, the most important part of my job is fostering personal relationships and friendships with the artists and creatives I work with.
Being a music producer in Nashville is an honor, and getting to this spot wasn’t easy. Before diving into music full time, I worked a lot of free projects and networked consistently around town. I interned at several music studios and companies to learn as much as I possibly can. Eventually, all of the work paid off and I was able to sustain my career as a music producer full time.
One thing I learned throughout this time is that if you try your hardest, truly working your hardest, it’s impossible to fail. The universe will find a way to make your work and time worth it. I’ve also learned that music comes second, and people come first. This industry is nothing without the people in it, and treating others with respect and love will always reward you in the end.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Great question! For breakfast or brunch, I would recommend Biscuit Love in The Gulch. Although the lines are long, it will always be worth the wait! For lunch, I love some good Tex-Mex. My favorite spot is Satco (San Antonio Taco Company) near Vanderbilt. They have the best cheap tacos and queso around! There is always the classic Hattie B’s hot chicken as well. I always bring my new friends there.
As for some afternoon shopping, I love walking around Green Hills Mall – the environment is always super clean and spacious. 12th South is always great in the morning to walk around and visit small shops.
For diner, I would recommend some fine dining places, such as Noku in East Nashville and Folk also in East Nashville.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
While I was in college, I was feeling slightly discouraged. I went to school in Nashville for audio engineering and although I loved it, it was challenging. I often felt like a small fish in a big pond. One summer, I happened to read the famous book titled The Alchemist and it completely changed my perspective on life and career. It shaped the way I viewed my future career trajectory and my business path. There is a famous quote from this book that says, “When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.” I have this in my music studio and read it every morning. As creatives, we always are striving to be perfect and create perfection. The reality is that none of us are perfect and never will be. However, we can all strive to be better than we are, whether this is in the music we create or the way we interact with our peers or just how we treat our community. Eventually, this act of manifesting will help you create your dream life and although you won’t ever be perfect, it helps you feel pretty darn close.
