We had the good fortune of connecting with Kai’rys Slayer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kai’rys, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“No matter how big you get remember to stay small”

I heard that quote from an elder gentleman speaking to a mass of people. When he said it the room became amazingly quiet. It was as if you could hear the words attaching itself to the inner thoughts of each ear it traveled inside of. I kept that as a thought in what we as a team do and as individuals. To us, that’s a core method of how to serve humbly and effectively.

What should our readers know about your business?
M.A.C. Production offers a variety of services for audio needs. From simple PA sets for company meetings to recording albums for distribution. We try to offer not just a service, we offer a vision made to reality. We all have things in our minds that we want to see. The hard part is describing it to someone to have them see it. We try to bridge that gap. We pride ourselves on not having an extensive need for social media. 87% of our business is from word of mouth. The rest is from being seen at an event. It’s a compliment in that people see what you offer and want it for their event. On the other hand, it’s also a challenge because we have to duplicate that feeling each and every time. That in itself is a book of trial and error we have and still are learning from. In the end, we want to leave the impression of “quality”. In our work, in our look, in our performance. That will say more than we could ever tell.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lol. That’s a tough one for me personally. Mainly because when I go out I’m usually at the place people are coming to so I don’t know how it feels to be on the opposite side. I’m so simple it’s embarrassing. I would do a lot of the historical places. Slave Haven, House of Mtenzi. Places like that. A&R for BBQ. Definitely Beale St. The Comedy Junt, Hi-Tone, the Carolina Watershed. There are so many places to go and see that I liked because the atmosphere is just so chill and diverse. As crazy as it sounds, I would take them to Graceland. As many people that live in Memphis, you’d be surprised at how many people have not been there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In our beginning stages we were not popular nor very professional, but a few groups and individuals stuck with us and we don’t take that for granted.

Robin Walker & Associates is a modeling group that allowed us to be their audio team for each of their events. She knew we were small , yet she kept hiring us and now she receives rave reviews for her shows(especially the sound)

Cam Mtenzi is a great mentor of mine. He’s allowed me to be under his wing and quietly sit to watch how he navigates personal and professional life situations. I take all of what he’s given and apply it daily. I owe him a lot for what and where this team has grown to be.

There’s a book by author Wellon Good. It’s titled “Daily Dose”. It’s a great book of motivation and encouragement. I recommend everyone purchase it.
