We had the good fortune of connecting with Juls LeMonds and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juls, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Oh, this is a biggie! When I first started my business, I was working a TON and never seeing my family. I quickly realized as the years went by that I had grown in my skill and knowledge which in return would make raising my prices a no brainer. I have delicately curated a perfect balance for my life over the years by moving into the luxury, high end tier of the industry which means my clients invest more into their memories while I simultaneously work less hours. Having my brand set up in this manner has proved incredibly beneficial to my health, work/life balance, marriage, parenthood and so much more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We all know that being an artist, let alone a successful one, is an emotional rollercoaster. Creatives like myself have such a strong bond to their passion and take everything to heart. We are our own worst critics. With that being said, I am thankful I have learned to give myself grace. Whether it be an edit I am not super in love with or the flow of a session didn’t feel right, I still give my best and it shows when the clients respond with their excitement upon viewing their galleries. Facilitation is important, yes, but not as much as grace. I have worked so incredibly hard over the last 5 years to design my brand into a cohesive, consistent and trustworthy brand and I hope it shows through my professionalism and final product.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My short 4 years living in the Nashville area were surrounded by this tiny town called Ridgetop. It is the cutest town, perched up on the ridge north of the city. We loved this quaint area for small day trips to small business owners pumpkin patches, coffee shops and things of the like. I always look for small coffee shops that are privately owned because I am a coffee addict who appreciates the true craft of brewing coffee. There are soooo many options for coffee shops in the area. Retrograde Coffee, Humphreys Street Coffee Shop, 8th & Roast to name a few. I am going to sound like the ultimate millennial right now, but I could down some loaded avocado toast and coffee at the drop of a dime. Next stop would be shopping the boutiques in Hendersonville then grabbing lunch at Harpers, can’t go wrong with an amazing cut of steak. A Nashville signature is all the murals, so that would be a fun stroll to look at all of the art I so dearly enjoy. There are so many things to do in Nashville and outskirts of town that it is so hard to fit it into a week!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story is a beautiful one and one of the biggest reasons why is Katelyn James, based in Goochland, VA. She is a local photographer there who has built this amazing education based community nationwide that operates online through her programs she offers to photographers. Her programs have offered guidance in all aspects of my career. I dove into her education 2 years ago and never looked back. She is a wonderful person and so generous.
