We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Carpio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As music enthusiasts and proud Venezuelans, our primary motivation in starting our company was to establish a platform that could bridge the gap between the rich Caribbean culture and the American culture. We aimed to achieve this through music, with a particular focus on house music. Our goal was to create a space where the vibrant musical diversity of our region could meet the American music scene, crafting a unique experience that celebrates the joy, connection, and positivity that music has to offer.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What fills us with the most pride is the entire journey that has brought us to where we are now. We are young individuals who came to this country seeking opportunities, and despite not knowing many people initially, we have built numerous friendships and a strong network here. It wasn’t easy, but thanks to them, we have made significant strides, and overcoming challenges has become much more manageable. We want the world to know about our talent and musical taste, and make them know that anyone can achieve their dreams with a bit of hard work and patience.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, absolutely every tourist coming to Nashville should experience Broadway. However, we would definitely take them to explore the best party spots like The Office, and for the after-party, The Golden Door.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Certainly, there are many people behind VG Label, especially our DJ CarlosBe, our talent scout Manuel “Nino” Salazar, and our planner and Project Manager Juan Carpio. However, we also want to express our gratitude to all the DJs in Nashville who have been on the set at our events and platforms, helping us thrive. Additionally, a big thank you to our beautiful audience and community that consistently supports us.
