We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Alston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Honestly the most important lesson I’ve learned in not only business, but life in general is you can’t really rely on anybody. Sometimes you tend to just see good in everyone and you expect everyone to be on the same timing you’re on especially when you’re trying to get work done. It sometimes is sad because you really might want to include all of your close friends, but the reality of it is they just might not be on the same timing as you’re on at that particular moment that’s why you have to always do whats best for you and your business. People don’t value things like you and they really won’t value nor have the same respect for your business like you do, people really could set you back if you’re on a certain time frame. The only person you need to rely on is YOURSELF!! People will constantly let you down if you rely on them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Ignored was created as a way to express my thoughts and feelings through clothes also it is a way to let others know that they’re never alone and should always be heard. The main goal is to impact as many people as possible, whether my peers, the younger generation, or my elders. Biggest thing I am proud of thus far is just all the support and love I receive. This upcoming year i’m just excited about expanding my brand not only by dropping clothes, but just continuing to do other business ventures in other creative areas. This journey has not been easy by any means and I have to overcome challenges everyday, but the best way to overcome those challenges is just to continue to believe in yourself and your work, never let anyone rush your process, and lastly just stay true to yourself always stand on your morals before anything!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So i’m just going to be brutally honest here and say I STRONGLY dislike the city lmao, but one of my favorite spots to start has to be downtown by the river. Sitting there looking at the view with the bridge in the background is very peaceful for me definitely my favorite spot to get away at. As far as food goes I really love experimenting trying different restaurants I don’t really have a favorite food spot right now, but I have been eating lots of mexican food and I will definitely recommend going to Tortilleria La Unica, to me they have the best tacos in the city. I really don’t go out too much because I don’t enjoy being around others all the time and it sometimes isn’t the safest thing to do, but whenever I do go out I love going to art galleries. Art galleries for me are very cool and peaceful i’ve met a lot like minded people like myself and it’s just a great way to network. Looking at great art while the dj is playing great music is always a great time to me you can never really go wrong.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly just want to dedicate my shoutout to all my loved ones I love those that love me and support me, but most importantly my mom and my homies. Through the darkest of times they always keep me level headed and try to help me see the light with just staying positive and focused on the things that really matter in life. They’re also just my biggest motivation with leveling up in life on day to day basis.
