We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I personally would say word of mouth is one of the most important factors behind the success of my business. Word of mouth has gotten me to where I am now and in my opinion it’s one of the most powerful advertisements in the world. If a friend recommends something to you, you’re more likely to look into their recommendation than something you have never heard of. You see hundreds of advertisements in your day to day life and do not even notice it. If a friend just had some photos taken of their family and you’ve been looking for someone to take photos of you and your family, the conversation is bound to come up in terms of who they had do their photos.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what sets me apart from other photographers is the fact that I can see images in my head before I take them. As crazy as it sounds, I can essentially make images in my head as long as I have a setting in mind. This skill helps me in so many ways with photography. I know exactly what I want, and then I make it happen.

The path to where I am today has not been easy by any means. I started photography when I was going into high school and my senior year was when I had my first wedding. Could you imagine how skeptical someone would be to hire a photographer that is fresh out of high school? I was skeptical to accept the challenge at first. Weddings are terrifying. As terrifying as they may be for photographers, we make it look easy and capture some of the most important pictures in a lifetime. As terrified as I was, I accepted the challenge and do not regret it one bit.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting the area and I wanted to show them around Nashville, I’d probably start with brunch at Sinema because bottomless mimosas are just a chefs kiss. Their food is amazing as well. I’m not a morning person at all so brunch is basically always my breakfast.

I’d have to say we would definitely have to do dinner at Jaspers in downtown just because of their bbq pork sweet potato fries. That alone will get me to drive into downtown Nashville.

Living in Nashville obviously broadway is going to be the center of attention for anyone that hasn’t been here before. But night time is when broadway comes to life.
We’d definitely have to bar hop a little and go to Kung Fu Saloon, Jason Aldeans, and Underground’s rooftop. Those are some of my top pick bars downtown.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my cousin, Jonathan Snorten. Jonathan has played a big part in walking me through the ins and outs of photography. He is also a photographer and he has been doing photography for as long as I can remember. Jonathan allowed me to second shoot a few weddings with him before I became comfortable enough to do them on my own, and for that I am forever grateful. I was fortunate enough to have a family member who was doing exactly what I wanted to in the near future and Jonathan’s help has and criticism has helped me get to where I am now.
