We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Great question! The answer to this will always depend on where you are in life.

When I was first starting my business, there was no balance. I put as much of my time and effort into getting things off the ground as I could.

I sacrificed going on trips/vacations, and I saved as much money as possible so I could support the needs of my businesses. Which meant fun money became an ultra-luxury.

If a new video game I’ve been dying to play came out, oh well. It would have to wait!

That was my mentality for the first few years.

However, after you’ve established yourself a bit, once you have systems in place and you find your footing, then you can start to bring those leisure activities you sacrificed back into your life.

I dedicate a great deal of time to my businesses, but I’m also now able to enjoy hobbies such as hiking, golfing, archery, and gaming with my friends without feeling like I’m neglecting my businesses.

What should our readers know about your business?
For my real estate investment company, Contenza Properties, I’m most proud of how we’ve been able to handle challenges.

Buying rental properties may seem easy, but it’s not!

First of all, it’s crazy expensive! This was the first hurdle we had to overcome.

We looked to our friends and family to raise capital, and many of them were interested in getting involved.

The straightforward nature in which we structured the deals made it easy for interested parties to participate, and this enabled us to build our portfolio to 25 units in a short amount of time.

Secondly, for my business, Discover California, I’m most proud of how quickly we’ve grown over the last year.

I remember we hit 10,000 followers in November of 2022. I’m writing this on October April 18th, 2024, and we just crossed 150,000 followers! Which is a huge milestone for us!

I love sharing amazing experiences in California I think others should have.

Whether it’s a jaw-dropping hike, an incredible museum exhibit, or a delicious dining experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a tough question! But I’ll answer it from the perspective of a San Francisco Bay Area resident since that’s where I live.

First things first, you have to see the Golden Gate Bridge! It may seem cliche, but it isn’t! It’s one of the most iconic places in the world. I’ve seen it a hundred times, and it still never fails to impress me.

Next up, you have to visit one of our amazing and unique beaches. Shark Fin Cove near Santa Cruz should be on everyone’s list!

Finally, there’s one spot in the city we can’t help but return to. It’s called Tara’s Indian Cusine in the Castro District. They serve up some of our favorite Indian food in the Bay Area!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to shout out to my girlfriend Cristal, my Aunt M.E and Uncle Jim, and of course, my parents!

They have all acted as rocks on which I was able to build my foundation.

Cristal has encouraged me every step of the way to pursue my goals.

My Aunt and Uncle have offered me many opportunities I was able to use to springboard myself into being a real estate investor.

And my parent’s unyielding support since I was a child taught me I could do anything I set my mind to.
