Meet Jordan Mohr | Country Singer/ Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Mohr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
One interesting fact of the music industry that often remains out of the spotlight is the amount of non-musical work artists pour into their careers. The romantic image of artists constantly jamming out and effortlessly creating songs masks the reality of their daily grind. In truth, much of an artist’s life revolves around tasks that are far from the creative stereotype. For instance, there is a lot of time spent on marketing, brand development, networking, and managing social media. Preparing for the fun stage performances is just the tip of the iceberg; beneath the surface lies a sea of emails, phone calls, negotiations, and planning that allow the artist to share their music with the world.
Additionally, the songwriting process can be very slow and often far from easy. It’s not just about having a talent or a flash of inspiration; it’s about crafting and revising, sometimes scrapping entire verses or chords in pursuit of the best song. It often involves a lot of trial and error, and songs can take anywhere from a few hours to several months to complete.
Behind every melody, there’s an array of business decisions, legal considerations, and strategic collaborations. Artists must be savvy entrepreneurs and brand managers, on top of honing their performance skills.
While passion for music is important the nature of the industry’s behind-the-scenes hustle is an often overlooked part to the success of musical artists.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an aspiring country music artist, my dedication and passion for learning and performing is what drives me. Within three years, I, along with my team have released six songs and two music videos. I have been beyond blessed In 2023, my efforts were acknowledged with three Josie Award nominations at the iconic Grand Ole Opry—This honor is one of my proudest moments, affirming that hard work does indeed pay off. Although I didn’t walk away with an award, the fact that I was recognized at all still surprises me.
One of the most exciting starts of 2024 has been witnessing my newest single, “Break up with Myself,” climb to the #1 spot on the leading playlist ABREAK 58, thats main focus is to support independent artists.
This track is a story of introspection, and empowerment.
Overcoming challenges became a part of the creative process on this one. Whether it was navigating the production or facing self-doubt, each hurdle helped me to learn more.
What I most desire for the world to know is simple—I just want to keep learning so that I can make every song a reflection of that journey.
I feel like my brand is my story, one that tries to remain true to my roots while I reach for the stars.
A story of a girl who believes that passion and hard work is where magic happens.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When you think of Orlando, your mind might automatically think of castles, roller coasters, and all of theme parks. But for those who prefer a more relaxed vacation, there’s so much more to Central Florida than its world-famous parks—especially if you’re a foodie like me!
In a week-long adventure through my hometown, I’d share with you the culinary scene, stunning natural beauty, and the charm of some of our smaller communities.
Day 1:
Lake Eola Park is in downtown Orlando. You can rent a swan boat, feed real swans, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Day 2: A Taste of Asia
Orlando has an incredible amount of Asian restaurants, reflecting the rich diversity of the community. From the Vietnamese district on Colonial Drive to ramen houses pretty much everywhere. We’d spend the day going from one culinary hotspot to another—trying fresh sushi, Korean hotpot’s and savoring amazing street foods.
Day 3: Beach Day
I am so lucky to be an hour’s drive from absolutely stunning beaches. A day near the ocean is mandatory. We’d pack our beach gear and go soak up the sun, swim and watch the sunset—the perfect Florida getaway.
Day 4 and 5: Winter Garden
Winter Garden is a town that I hold dear, it is a small community with the most beautiful oak trees. The Plant Street Market—is similar to European markets, with a plenty of food vendors and a brewery. We would also hit the local shops. You could then witness firsthand its gorgeous setting, and talk to the locals.
Day 6:
The natural springs at Wekiva State Park will make you forget you’re next to Disney and Universal. Renting a canoe and or walking the trails are a must. Yes, you will see alligators and tons of wildlife. We will also cool off in one of the crystal clear springs.
Day 7: Farewell Feast
Our final day would include a farewell feast at one of my favorite Mexican restaurant San Jose’s. On the way to the airport we’d grab my guilty pleasure, Starbucks, to get ready to endure the Orlando International Airport.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge shoutout time! First up, the dynamic duo Mike and Caroline Walker – my mentors and collaborators. Co-writing with them has been the cornerstone of my music; they’ve given me the structure to weave my ideas into melodies and pushed me to level up my guitar game. Their invaluable performance tips, savvy business knowledge and industry connects have been a game-changer. And of course, the legends themselves, my parents. They have been the unwavering foundation of my journey. In a world that doesn’t always get the struggles of an artist, they have shown me that passion and love for what you do triumphs all. They made sacrifices to support my dreams, ensuring I can live out my purpose through every riff and verse.
