We had the good fortune of connecting with Jon Wyatt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had played for many years backing other artist. Playing the material they chose or wrote. I just got tired of that and playing that role. I felt like I should use the rest of the time I am gifted with to play the music that made me most happy. The only way to do that was to create my own band/brand, and do it my way. Without a care in the world of success and only focussing on my happiness, I created DividedBy5. Instead of being hired to play rock or country, I get to play blues, funk, soul, rock and jazz fusion. I am just fortunate that others have taken intrest in DividedBy5. It makes it all the more worth what we do!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
2020 when covid-19 hit us, I put this band together to play more of the type music I wanted to play. Since I put this band together, we quickly started playing frequently at a very popular dive blues bar in Atlanta ga. and growing fast. Soon I would be asked to take over all of the booking at this club and have been booking for Northside Tavern in Atl ga for the last 3 years as well. Following my heart and putting this band together has led to me being very very happy about where I am. I guess the moral of the story is to follow your heart! That is what I have learned from this experience. That is the only way to find TRUE success!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Of coarse because I book all of the bands/artist there, most the entertainment will be at Northside Tavern in Midtown, Atl ga! We have something different going on every night of the week even an open jam night on Monday nights.
The great thing about Atl is there are great food spots all over from “6’feet under” seafood restaurant to “Woody’s classic cheesesteak”, or “Varsity” for chili dogs, fries and burgers to brazzian steak house”Fogo de Chão”! Good food everywhere!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The most credit goes to my father, Eddie Wyatt, for instilling in me a love for music at a very young age. He would take me to local music stores in the 80’s where I would learn so much from just watching and being around that environment. He would take me to see local bands that were good and that time period really lit my flame.
