We had the good fortune of connecting with Jon Stolzer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jon, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
It is no secret that addiction is running rampant in communities all over the world. In particular, opioids have established themselves as the prevailing deadly substance. Currently, I co-own and operate two outpatient substance abuse treatment facilities. Through a combination of in-office and telemedicine care, we treat patients from every county in Tennessee. We are an ethics-first, patient-centric, locally owned-and-operated company working to provide the very best care to those in our community seeking a sober life. We want to destigmatize addiction. One of the simplest ways we’ve sought to accomplish that is by treating our patients with dignity and respect. Asking the question, if this person seeking help was one of your family members, how would you want them to be treated? The foundation that question is built informs the impact we seek to create every day.

What should our readers know about your business?
The world of outpatient substance abuse treatment facilities is riddled with a combination of private equity-backed funding and ill-intended individuals seeking to exploit a group of people deemed an easy target. Some of the most common feedback we hear relates to the absence of dignity and respect experienced during their pursuit of treatment prior to enrolling in our program. Our philosophy articulates who we are and what separates us from others: When addiction has traded all you ever hoped to be proud of for shame and guilt, you will find us ready to stand with you. When your spirit is bruised, and addiction intends to take your life, you will find us ready to help you take it back. We are here because we have walked in your shoes and have come prepared with what is necessary to help you succeed. At Nashville Addiction Clinic and Recovery Care of Columbia, we believe in practicing evidence-based medicine and treating patients with dignity and respect. By bringing together the best practices in medication-assisted treatment and the compassion desired by all of us, we can generate momentum that leads to long-term sobriety. We are a team that shows up every day to fight and advocate for those who desire sobriety more than anything else so that they can have everything else. Removing barriers and obstacles to substance abuse treatment has been a goal of ours that has led to one of our greatest achievements. Our telemedicine program represents the most robust and sophisticated delivery of outpatient substance abuse treatment available anywhere. Through our program, patients are able to receive comprehensive, bundled care in the comfort of their homes. Including laboratory grade drug testing, individual counseling, case management, and one-on-one treatment by a physician or nurse practitioner. All of our services are accessible via Tennessee Medicaid, private insurance plans, and affordable self-pay options.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many great places across middle Tennessee to visit. I suppose I would plan the visit around food and outings around the area. There are too many wonderful breakfast and brunch spots to name. That being said, I would have to make sure we hit Biscuit Love in downtown Franklin and Husk in Nashville throughout the trip. Lunch would have to include Urban Grub, RH Courtyard, and Midtown Cafe. For dinner, I would say the best little-known, still new, but truly spectacular spot would be MI Kitchen in Franklin. The owners are from South Korea by way of New York: Chef Yun and Chef Nick are as talented as they are welcoming (that includes their staff too). There is another great locally-owned restaurant in Franklin that my wife and I frequent when we are in the mood for Thai red curry. It’s called Sunset Sushi and Thai. The owner, who goes by Tony, is such a welcoming person, and everything on his menu is amazing. Perry’s Steakhouse is always a wonderful spot for an evening worth dressing up for, without the need to wrestle with downtown Nashville. All the aforementioned restaurants are also great for a cocktail or glass of wine. In terms of outings, I always recommend Cheekwood as it is a stunning location to take anyone to. Their botanical gardens are hard to beat.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is an easy one. My wife is the person who deserves both the credit and the recognition for all she has done and continues to do. She is the most intelligent, empathetic, and supportive person I know. She has consistently, across space and time, been an unwavering source of support to me. I trust her implicitly. Her judgment is remarkable, and it is, without a doubt, a secret weapon to have a wife as capable as mine. I’ve always told her she is my everyday blessing. I don’t know what I could have done to deserve her, but I wake up every day with the intention of making her feel as loved and as special as she does me. I have a tendency to overcommit myself and lose sight of a healthy balance. That can result in poor performance across the board. She is always keeping an eye out for me, helping to remind me where the guardrails are so I can prevent an accident from occurring. It doesn’t matter how hard you work if you run yourself into the ground.
