We had the good fortune of connecting with John Quillen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Mountaineering is inherently risky. Starting a mountaineering company takes it to a definitely higher altitude given the number of variables and client factors. Managing these risks and mitigating potential hot spots is as challenging as the climbs.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I organize mountaineering trips, primarily to Mexico and South American destinations but all over the world. As a climber, I have used guided services and incorporate my experiences to bring the mountains to beginner and intermediate aspiring mountaineers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our Ecuador trip is quite popular. We spend time exploring cultural sights but also get out on the volcanoes for acclimatization. A nice mix of adventure and scenery. Beginners and pro mountain climbers can test their skills with our local guides to see how they handle altitude before moving on to bigger mountain projects.
