We had the good fortune of connecting with John Michael Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi John Michael, what is the most important factor behind your success?
You’ve heard the old cliche that we do business with people we know, like, and trust. It’s a cliche because it’s true. Yet, most people are only concerned with getting their brand known. You need the entire equation for it to work.

Focusing on the like and trust parts has greatly contributed to the success of my brand. I try to be as genuine and authentic as I can. This is what makes someone likable. If they vibe with who you really are, then they’ll love your brand. If they don’t, they’ll move on to someone else.

Trust is the biggest factor in making sales. The amount you can sell is in direct proportion to the amount of trust you have with the customer or marketplace.

Trust is built and established in numerous ways. But what’s worked best for me is being extremely consistent. I’ve coached brands for over 15 years. That means every week I need to show up for clients as well as show up in my marketing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
For over 15 years, I’ve been a coach and consultant to entrepreneurs and world-renowned brands. I help them with their branding, marketing, and mindset. Along with that, I write books and speak at events.

I would say there are a few things that set me apart from others. My client retention is top in my industry and my roster of clients I’ve worked with is stronger than most. I’ve worked with brands such as Disney, Starbucks, BMW, McDonald’s, Twitter, and more. What these things reveal is results. If I didn’t get clients results, they don’t happen.

Building this business hasn’t been easy. Any business owner knows the stress that comes with running a company. But I’ve always been a dedicated student which helps greatly. I’m always learning and striving to improve myself. I know that the more I improve as a person, the more the business will improve.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Nashville has grown so much that it’s hard to keep track of all the exciting new places we have. My favorite coffee shops are Barista Parlor and Retrograde Coffee. Frothy Monkey is another great one but they’re now more of a restaurant.

My favorite restaurants are Urban Grub and Emery’s. Both are on 12 South which is a great area to visit if you’re from out of town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
No one has supported and helped me more than my wife, Brooklyn. She’s worked in my business from day one and provided incredible counsel and support along the way.

As predictable as this is going to sound, I have to give a shoutout to my clients. Many have been with me for over a decade. I’m honored to be a small part of their journey. They inspire me with their vision, determination, and hunger to be the best version of themselves.
