We had the good fortune of connecting with Jim Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jim, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Being that my current business is my 4th business I have started, I have found one commonality amongst all my businesses that have been related to my thought process and urged me to move forward and start.
There is a massive gap in the market to provide and serve our communities better.
My name James, which means to shield and protect, and I often find my businesses solving a problem within a market to shield clients from unethical business practices currently occurring within that specific industry.
Ethics is an important to me, its what drove me to become an Entreprenuer and work for myself. It also plays an important role related to my work with companies around human connection in leadership, culture and sales.
What should our readers know about your business?
I consult businesses and entrepneures on human connection as well as have a digital community where we host virtual and in person live events as well as an annual conference. I lost $112,000 on building a community and creating IMPACT Effect Conference. This wasn’t an expense though, it was an investment in my brand, my future and myself. When you take massive action and do something really BIG and set goals really BIG – you must become a new person and experience monumental growth. This is by far, the life lesson that I would share with everyone. Take the risk and endure the suffering in order to grow the the most and do it the fastest. I started out putting on networking events and consulting small businesses and now I am speaking all over the United States, making an IMPACT on others, and harvesting our digital community to provide members with resources, opportunities, and visibility to my entire network. When I began to realize that my business and speaking career has nothing to do with me or what I want, I found myself in a state of surrender and clarity around how I can make massive positive change for others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fifth & Broadway is an amazing place to entrench yourself in the heart of Music City – downtown Nashville. with tons of local eateries, you will find yourself in a high class local food court with options from Desano’s pizza, to Princes hot chicken, and Pharmacy burger. I would also recommend to explore the riverwalk and centennial park. There is also a great view of the city at love park near Vanderbilt.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A majority of my success relates to my family. My wife, Kaitlin, has been an instrumental part of pushing me to look at scenarios and opportunities differently and deeper as well as supporting me when I take massive risk and bold action. Not everything works out and she is there to support and encourage me when I come up short or fail. My daughter Ellie (1.5 years old) pushes me to follow my dreams and remove imposter syndrome. For example, I almost didn’t submit my TEDx talk submission but I realized that if my daugher was watching me, I would not be following my dreams and how could I tell her to follow hers?I submitted and am excited to have been chosen for TEDx Old Hickory in September 2024.
