We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica McEachern and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what makes you happy? Why?
I enjoy writing children’s books and songs. Visiting museums stimulates my learning. History and artifacts are fascinating. I take delight in spirituality. Being health conscious and enlightened about holistic health practices. Going to the beach to relax and rest. I love to laugh, so I like attending comedy shows. Spending time with family and friends. Working with youth, families, and communities to help them be self-sufficient and successful. Being an author, social worker, songstress, and songwriter fulfill my purpose which makes me happy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an author, social worker, songstress, and songwriter. I have multiple children’s books and songs awaiting release. I write my books, I write my songs, and I perform my songs. I am a Social Worker full time and I work part time during the week, so balancing time and money to dedicate to music and children’s books can be a challenge sometimes. My children’s book “When I Grow Up” is available for purchase on Amazon, Warren Publishing website, Barnes and Noble website, and my website. My music is available for streaming and purchase on music streaming platforms. Currently, I have released five songs: “Lipstick”, “Tonight”, “Naughty”, “Be with me” and “Scared to love”. I will be releasing another single no later than August 2024. I am excited about upcoming opportunities. I want to release all my children’s books and music.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would visit Great wolf lodge, Dave and Busters, Sea-life Aquarium, Topgolf, Discovery Place, Whitewater Center, Camp North End, Skating rink, historical attractions, and historical museums. We would eat at Freshwaters, 131 Main, Mama Ricottas, Bernardin’s, Village Tavern, STIR, BrickTops, Razzoos Cajun Cafe, Texas Roadhouse, Mr. Charles Chicken and Fish and have dinner on a lake cruise. We would hang out at Comedy Zone, Fahrenheit, Merchant and Trade, Nuvole, live jazz spots and sports bars. We would attend a Charlotte Hornets basketball game or a Carolina Panthers Football game.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Warren Publishing, Inc. published one of my children’s books, “When I Grow Up”. I appreciate the partnership to release my book to readers. First Baptist Church, Lumberton North Carolina, is the best leadership development and training I’ve ever received. Being a youth leader in the church forced me to develop social skills, accept correction, welcome feedback, display confidence, facilitate meetings, organize, advocate, build relationships, make decisions, and continually grow. I’m grateful for the experiences and knowledge received from the church. Mrs. Priscilla Leazer, Ms. Mary Ann Stephens, Ms. Hazel Kennedy, Ms. Frances McDougald motivated me to let my light shine. Ms. Ernestine Jones cultivated my gift of song and ministered to me about my gift. Those beautiful and kind women at the church saw something special in me and I love them for always embracing me. They will always hold a special place in my heart. My maternal and paternal grandmothers for always being my safe place, being the glue that keeps the family together, holding me accountable and modeling strength as well as perseverance. My sisters for being my biggest supporters and cheerleaders. My Mom for loving me, letting me be me, and supporting my gifts and talents. My friends for being like sisters and family to me. J-Stylz deserves recognition for producing my music.
