Meet Jenna Marotta | Artist, singer, dancer, songwriter aka jennapple

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna Marotta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenna, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?

For me, there’s no question. When I left college I decided I would pursue music for 10 years before giving up and trying something else. Ten years later I was knee deep, there was no changing at that point in time. Considering the hard work I put in, I never was able to stop going for it, it just didn’t feel right to abandon my gifts like that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I am highly focused right now on the re-branding process of my artistry. I recently went back to a formerly used stage name, and re-released my album “Gypsy” and single “Turn Around” under “jennapple”.I just released three new songs that are a definite to download!!!

I’m looking forward to releasing my second album under this name and am currently recording it: The album is called “Can’t Break Me”, and I am challenging myself to be as authentic and unique as possible.

It’s all about the come back.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Honestly I stay local to Franklin. Legendary Kimbro’s Pickin Parlor is probably one of the best music venues I’ve ever been to. I spend a solid amount of my free time there, and a local dive called the Pond.

If I’m going to downtown Nashville Robert’s Western World is my favorite and I also love to go to Lipstick Lounge, especially if there is Karaoke!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I am extremely blessed to have a great team behind me. My musicians and  producer are long time professionals in the music business.

Alan Schwartz, my producer, has been a NYC session and touring guitar player for over 4 decades.
My drummer, Jerry Marotta has played on so many hit records, and is so loving and supportive.
My keyboard player Daniel A. Weiss was the musical director for the original Tony award winning show Rent, on Broadway, I look forward to sending him my new songs and love the advice he gives.

My voice teacher Katie Agresta has done wonders for my voice and soul.

Honestly this list could go on for a few pages as it takes a village.
