Meet Jazmaine Norris | Cosmetologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmaine Norris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmaine, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from the windy city, better known as Chicago, Illinois. I was raised by both of my grandmothers while my parents went through transitions in there lives. Being raised by two of the most powerful women in my eyes, has given me the outlook i needed in this life. The wisdom they installed in me has made me better as a person but also a business owner.
What should our readers know about your business?
Xsoterik Parlor is a platform that specialize in full body wax services for males and transgenders. We also provide natural care services and special effects work. Having such a broad avenue of services allow us to build relationships all across the board. Being able to provide a place for my clients to be themselves is the best part of having my business. I want people to feel free and wander while there in our space.
Starting my business was not as easy as it seem. A lot of time and effort was put into creating my vision. I wasn’t sure what I wanted exactly, I just knew i wanted to create and have cool people around me. Challenges played its part but that’s life. I had tunnel vision and allow myself to fall. I just made sure i bounced back up each time. Leaving room for error allows me to have lessons learned. I wouldn’t be here without them.
I want my platform to continue to grow and touch those who need that push. No matter if its through receiving a service or just a simple read. My story is a stepping stone for next. I’m just happy to be apart.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I recently went on a self care girls day out. We started off with brunch at The Liquor Store. Afterwards, we headed to the Brooks Art Gallery for the last viewing of this exhibit called, Black American Portraits. Once we left there, we checked out this store called Blue Suede Vintage. Found some really cool classic retro pieces. Definitely give it a try. Eventually we ended our day at Crosstown. A place where you can never wrong. The Listening Lab had to be my favorite spot. Listening to the crispy sounds of the vinyls spinning really made my day. I believe anyone would enjoy a day like that.. Adventurous yet chill.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this article to my eight siblings. Being the eldest and showing them the narrative can change has always been a goal of mine. Leading them by example and being that visual aid of success will give them the hope they need to know their dreams are reachable. Shout out to my crazy eight .
