We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Ahlbrandt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We initially started our construction company out of a need for efficiency in the process of home construction while working with investors. We really wanted to stream line the process and remove any unnecessary decision makers from the equation. Being from the real estate sales business, we are able to communicate directly with our owners/investors and make construction and sales decisions in real time as we build.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We bring creative luxury modern homes to market as well as work with home owners on building custom projects. Because we have worked in the development world, we bring a unique set of skills that allows us to work with customers on finding and purchasing a build site, working directly with architects and designers, managing budgets, all the way through construction and completion.
Our leap from real estate sales and project managing was a smooth transition as we already had the knowledge and skills in place to execute efficiently on any project. Our attention to the bottom line in our investment projects allows us to help custom clients work through budget challenges creatively.
The biggest lesson we’ve learned as a builder is that you have to manage your project and sub contractors like a serious business. You must be engaged at all times, be able to communicate well and make intentional systems and processes in order to succeed.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take a close friend to the Perch for breakfast coffee, then on a tour of my favorite neighborhoods in the Nashville area and show them some of the projects I’ve had the honor of being a part of.
I’d take them downtown, for lunch at the assembly food hall. I’d have dinner at my house making home made pizza in my pizza oven.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Early on in my real estate career, my now business partner Martin Lovelace really mentored me into this space of building and development. He pulled me in on development projects and got me into designing interiors for homes while project managing. It was really a great experience and has brought me all the way to today.
