We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaron Micah Bundy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaron Micah, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
This is a very tough question, but one that everyone will face at varying degrees throughout their lives. I think the answer will never be to “give up” persay as sometimes the most important thing is to get up the next day and just take the next step. I certainly have encountered times where in evaluating next steps I will pivot or try a new method in my attempts to accomplish a life, career, or relational goal. The decision or answer of “giving up” almost always seems to have the connotation of failure or hopelessness – and I believe wholeheartedly that there is always hope, even it when it doesn’t seem or feel like there is. I am so grateful that my hope is secure in Jesus Christ and in the last few years I have learned so much about what it looks like to have a strength and hope in the Lord as I continually trust in Him more and more. This journey of mine is best experienced in the songs on my record ‘Praise and Lament’, which is a lament album that the Lord truly gave me to express/process many sorrows with Him in His presence in worship and prayer. Ultimately, my response to that question is two-fold: 1) the answer is always to keep going, even if might not look like what you had planned or doing something different feels like failing or giving up. 2) True strength comes from the Lord and seeking a relationship with Him!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my production business Jaron Micah Music almost two years ago and my aim is to provide high quality production and mixes for artists and writers at low industry rates. It has been incredible to work with many local studios in town and with some amazing artists, engineers, and musicians. I specialize in the folk, singer-songwriter, Christian/worship, and country genres but am comfortable in any genre musically. One of the greatest passions of mine is to see and hear an artist’s vision and be able to help them accomplish that musically in serving them and the song or record. I believe I stand out in my knowledge and understanding of service and partnership within business – my goal is to serve clients and artists and connect with them as people because music is artistic, emotional, and vulnerable, and best created when real authentic connections are being made.

What’s unique about me as an individual and artist myself is my deep love for worship and writing songs that give space for others to worship Him and fully encounter His presence. That is my hope for my album ‘Praise and Lament’ – that it would give people language to praise and lament with God who is ready and able to heal, guide, and love you. The setting of ‘Praise and Lament’ is a personal and devotional context to commune with God in relationship. I also hope to further press into writing songs for the church to glorify God in corporate settings moving forward in my career.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say one of my favorite things to do is to scout out some of my favorite artists or even newer smaller artists and go see some shows! I think Nashville is such a great city for small, intimate venues to see artists or even writers at places like Basement East or The Blue Room. In terms of food, I would direct people to East Nashville area to get some grub. Another food spot a great friend took me to is Little Hats! Downtown Franklin is super fun to check out as well. And lastly, I love just driving around downtown at night when the city is lit up!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people in my life that I owe so much to! The first would definitely be my family – my mom, dad, and brother. My brother Caleb is a big part of my family’s story and lives as he has severe autism, multiple other disabilities, and is a non-verbal. Growing up with him brought many blessings and challenges and his impact on my life is often difficult to fully articulate, which is why I write songs and express those emotions through music aha! My parents and Caleb’s love has been the biggest reason for any success I’ve had thus far in my college and music career. They are the biggest inspiration behind a lot of the songs on my worship record ‘Praise and Lament.’ From here I would love to shout out two music/life mentors in my life who have both provided much guidance in worship, writing, and producing. My cousin Joshua Kauffman has mentored me so much in worship leading and the intricate and beautiful processes of worshipping the Lord in small settings to corporate congregational settings. His worship and artistry has been a big influence and inspiration in my life from working under him at Malibu Pacific Church in So Cal to worshipping with him and my awesome family (including his rockstar son Ivan) out here in Nashville! Lastly, I’d love to give a huge shoutout to Evan Sieling who engineered, co-produced, and mastered ‘Praise and Lament’ this past summer and fall. His mentorship in music and production has been instrumental in my life and even in my decision to come out here to Nashville to pursue music full-time and start my production business. And in all things, the Lord deserves the honor and glory for my music and any success that comes with that!
