Meet Janna LaRoche

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janna LaRoche and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janna, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I view risk as opportunity, and when opportunity presents itself, I take a chance on myself. Any risk can be seen as opportunity. I used to work for a company that was shutting down. As that company was shutting down, I got the opportunity to work full-time as a Broadway musician in Nashville. I chose to look at that as an opportunity to be self-employed and play music for a living as opposed to worrying about the risk of failure.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m always very excited to create. I’ve always been surrounded by highly creative people. Those people have always pushed me to express who I am, whether that be in the way I dress or in who I hang out with. Writing and performing music is the best way for me to be my most authentic self, and I value being able to be myself. There’s always going to be challenges, but Ive found that working with other people and finding a community of musicians and friends has helped me. I’ve learned to become versatile and open to new ideas. I’ve learned over the years not to limit what I create.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Nashville has a ton of fun stuff to do!
If my friends were visiting Nashville, I’d recommend these places:
-Mas Tacos Por Favor has some of the best tacos I’ve had in East Nashville
-East Nashville Antiques and Vintage is a fun shopping spot with multiple venders
-Broadway has great live music happening from 10am-2am!
-Tone Central Station is a music store in East Nashville with a great selection of music gear and the coolest vibe!!
Some of my favorite live music venues to watch original music are, The Cobra,The East Room, Drkmttr, The 5-spot, and East side bowl!
There’s always something fun happening In Nashville!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shout out to Todzilla and Jamie Jackson from Tone Central Station, my friends in Jinx the band, all of my friends in the Nashville music scene, my friend Andrew Spadafora who is an absolutely amazing saxophone player, my friend Zach Hurst who is a killer guitar player and one who asked me if I’d want to play in a band on Broadway in Nashville, and my dad Tim LaRoche who has done so much for me and continues to help me become better and better as a musician.
