We had the good fortune of connecting with Jah Dreddz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thoughts were on becoming independent, making residual income, and spending more time with my children.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Jah Dreddz, I’m an Independent TV Producer, award-winning TV Host, Master Artist, and Self-Published Author. I also created my TV shows LiveThat in 2011 & LiveThatSINY in 2012. I’ve been hosting LiveThatSINY exclusively since 2014 to present, I’m a self-taught Artist who was able to Master that craft through years of hard work. My 1st self-published book series Lights, Camera, Obstacles was written to educate and encourage the success rates of the Independent TV producer. What sets me apart from others the most is that no matter what I put my hands in, I promise to pioneer that industry from a fresh perspective. Getting where I am in television took a lot of resiliencies because Independent TV Production can be a very cutthroat experience. I had to adapt by learning to focus on pioneering my groundbreaking productions instead of other foolishness. It was not easy to earn the respect for the work ethic I was bringing to master the independent TV Production craft and even to the present day, I’m learning through trials, tribulations, and triumphs. The most important lesson I’ve learned is how to be the voice of other voices whether here or around the world, I’m presenting their story while showcasing their talent and or other gifts to the world. As of 2024, I have been self-publishing a book series titled Lights, Camera, Obstacles which presents a different side of myself by delivering lessons to those interested in becoming an independent TV Producer. All my many awards came from hard work, and I want people to be resilient in whatever they do, no matter what type of obstacles arise on their path.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from New York City was born in Brooklyn, but now I reside in Staten Island. If my best friend and I were visiting Tennessee, we would spend a week outdoors at The Great Smoky Mountains National Park to show them the best time ever. Being part Native American, I need at least a week to explore, share, and enjoy what the great outdoors offers us. I experienced when it comes to fishing, camping, and hiking due to growing up a member of the Boy Scouts. Living in a fast-paced, overcrowded city like New York City where I don’t get to utilize those skills would be a much-needed and long-overdue trip for my best friend and me. Now to be fair I would need at least a month to show my best friend what Tennessee has to offer and here are the stops and reasons for each visit. Nashville (Grand Ole Opry & Johnny Cash Museum, honky-tonks & Fontanel Mansion), Memphis (BBQ, Blues, Soul, Beale Street & Elvis’ Graceland), Chattanooga (Mt. Lookout, Civil War Sites & Railroad Heritage), Gatlinburg (Mountain views & Ober Gatlinburg skiing/amusement park), Knoxville (Market Square &James White Fort & Museum of East Tennessee), Pigeon Forge (Dollywood, dinner theater & mountains), Franklin (Antique Shops, Carton Plantations & Carter House), Clarksville (Customs House Museum, Dunbar Cave complex & McGregor Park Riverwalk), Murfreesboro (Stones River Battlefield & Cemetery, Oakland Mansion, & Cannonsburgh Village).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my uncle Pops Gadsen for pioneering the independent television industry and many other industries such as community development and cultural awareness. As my uncle continues to make strides in life, he is currently an Ambassador of The United Nations, and the greatest lesson learned from him involved using anti-nepotism. Meaning when I first started in the independent television industry no one knew we were even related, but the minute i won my first major award, the cat was let out the bag concerning our connection. I also must shoutout Ashshahid Muhammed of Graffiti University Comics for not only inspiring me to write my first book but also guiding from beginning to publishing my first eBook.
