We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackson Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackson, what role has risk played in your life or career?
There’s a strong push to “ do what everyone else is doing” play as many rounds as possible, go to every mixer or write with everyone you meet.

I can’t help but think “ but thousands are doing that, I’d just be one more”.

It’s a risk but I’m compelled to carve my own way forward because I don’t want to just “do what everyone else is doing “

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In Nashville there’s often times an expectation to produce content/product consistently. However creativity isn’t an assembly line and was never meant to round out a perfect total at the end of every month.

As a songwriter, the best songs are made when you live life and then feel inspired. Living life takes time, patience and turning that into art should require equal patience.

Often the joy of being on my own & doing everything myself is that my art has the love of patience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
After you experience the loud & rollercoaster of broadway, you’d settle down into west Nashville for hidden restaurants.

Further west are my favorite places like Loveless cafe & Leipers Fork.

Natchez Trace shows you how beautiful middle TN nature is with amazing views.

Then of course back east for the grand old opry!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jim Beavers played a massive role in getting me out of my comfort zone & challenging me to evolve.

He’s really took the time to show me what I was doing wrong and how to improve.
